What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 21-10-2012 from my library (vinyl) ![]() Jerry Lee has to hold the record for number of shout outs to himself in his songs, either as his name or as The Killer, which he named himself. Is this where rappers got that from? Just a thought. Debuting in the 50's Jerry had already peaked long ago, but he was still putting them out on a regular basis. This one is a good mix of his straight country and his rock-a-billy boogie woogie side. You know which I prefer. Three tracks I love and three I do not like. Two singles charted, with the title cut coming in at #11, and Honky Tonk Stuff at #28, both on the country side. The album could only manage a #32. Jerry had an album in 2010, making him one of the few in the 50 years in the business club. An elite group that you have to give credit to. The Killer rocks on. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Toot, Toot, Tootsie Goodbye Best Track - Who Will Buy The Wine 1) Rockin Jerry Lee * 2) Who Will Buy The Wine *** 3) Love Game ** 4) Alabama Jubilee * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyamsS8JXU4 5) Good Time Charlies Got The Blues ** 6) When Two Worlds Collide *** 7) Good News Travels Fast ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP2liVDXeww 8) I Only Want A Buddy, Not A Sweetheart ** 9) Honky Tonk Stuff *** 10) Toot, Toot, Tootsie Goodbye * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-iItb2Et6Y 3's - 3 2's - 4 1's - 3 Grade - 2.0 allmusic - 2.0 What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 22-10-2012 i listened to 'good news travels fast'...not bad, a shame they didnt have a link for 'good time charlie's got the blues', would have loved to hear his version What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 23-10-2012 Man o man, JLL can ROCK !!!!! What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 24-10-2012 ![]() DOLLY PARTON "the essential dolly parton" cd,2005. 2cd set containing all of Dolly's most well known tracks, thirty seven in all. pretty much done in release order. the first disc(this one below) chronicles her first decade from 67-77... only one track on here i dont like(well, i doubt anyone would like it), its called Joshua, its retty much a remake of Johnny Cash's "boy named sue" allbeit with different lyrics, real cringeworthy stuff IMO. this disc also contains my alltime favourite Dolly track, Coat Of Many Colours. also included here is the original version of "i will always love you", i guess made more famous by Whitney Houston...yep, Whitney's is far superior to Dolly's original. strange to note that the song was originally offered to Elvis Presley but Big Time Crook manager Tom Parker wanted Dolly to signover half the writing credits to him in order to allow Elvis to sing it....Dolly's response was "my mind and heart have gone into this song, you aint takin' what rightfully belongs to me"...thus, Elvis never got to record this one thanks to Parker! all up, up there with the best country collections by any country singer ever IMO....disc two to follow tomorrow. I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: joshua best track: coat of many colours tracks: 1. dumb blonde *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m_OvYkoyeE live from Porter Wagner Show 2. just because im a woman ** 3. my blue-ridge mountain boy *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GfoJ7ynUqI live from Grand Ole Opry 4. mule skinner blues ** 5. joshua * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLlyrkIWZos live from Grand Ole Opry 6. coat of many colours *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1zJzr-kWsI live 7. touch your woman ** 8. my tennessee mountain home *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2b9RxWYf-s audio w/-lyrics 9. jolene *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1plvBR02wDs live from Ryman Theatre 10.please dont stop loving me *** 11.i will always love you ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBLJIcaVC1w live from Grand Ole Opry 12.love is like a butterfly ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0pkn9evgKs live from Hee Haw 13.the bargain store *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow7_-3tAkew audio 14.the seeker ** 15.we used to *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z7UTvE0-zU live 16.all i can do *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52mzKPwQg-8 live 17.light of a clear blue morning ** 18.its all wrong, but its alright ** 3s=9 2s=8 1s=1 rating: 2.4 or 8/10 What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-10-2012 ![]() DOLLY PARTON "the essential dolly parton" disc two.... this one covers the years 1978 thru 2001... was actually surprised this one came out with almost the same score as the earlier so-called 'classic dolly' material, best track on here for me is the duet with Kenny Rogers that was written by the Brothers Gibb "islands in the stream", was totally surprised that i liked "9 to 5"...used to cringe whenever i heard that one. still, out of thirty seven tracks all-up on the two discs, there are only three that i dont like seventeen i love and eighteen that i like...very good collection IMO I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: save the last dance for me best track: islands in the stream tracks: 1. here you come again *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcm4rwpF5cw live 2. two doors down ** 3. heartbreaker ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PADF5c47P-A live 4. i really got the feeling * 5. youre the only one ** 6. starting over again ** 7. old flames cant hold a candle to you *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17NoKYcpADI audio 8. 9 to 5 ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpKAA2VxWY8 live 9. but you know i love you *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMiNKZzsfRc audio 10.single women ** 11.heartbreak express *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPrvy772lv4 audio 12.islands in the stream *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_30WbfHZt_Q live w/-Kenny Rogers 13.save the last dance for me * 14.tennessee homesick blues ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kkOYK4eMPY live 15.God wont get you ** 16.to know him is to love him ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kkOYK4eMPY live w/- Emmy Lou and Linda 17.why'd you come in here looking like that ** 18.rockin' years *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU9Phb1jZjY audio 19.shine *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJkJmaT3Gog video 3s=7 2s=10 1s=2 rating: 2.3 or 7.5/10 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 25-10-2012 lol I hated 9 to 5 the song and the movie What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-10-2012 ive never seen the movie, purely because i never used to like the song What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 26-10-2012 Dolly's a true legend in my books!
