Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 15-10-2012 i have this album...pretty darn good IMO Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 15-10-2012 #492 - Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive - 1978 me - ** from the album: only see it on compilations Written by Dino Fekaris, Freddie Perren Produced by Dino Fekaris, Freddie Perren Chart action: #1 Billboard Hot 100, #1 UK Singles the players: no idea but I'm pretty sure Gloria Gaynor has vocals I'm sure I hated this when it came out. I hated anything disco. Looking back now, 34 years later, I have to admit it's a pretty good song. Lyrics are good, strings are great, that disco beat still hits a nerve though. The song went to #1 and was on the chart here for 27 weeks. It has become a disco and gay anthem. Originally released as a b -side, dj's made it their choice. Grammy people must have created an award just for this song. The only year an award exists for Best Disco Recording which Gloria took down with ease. VH1 has it as #1 on it's Greatest Dance Songs list. The song has been covered by numerous artists over the years and probably still gets played in the gay clubs. Lyrics At first I was afraid I was petrified Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong And I grew strong and I learned how to get along And now your back, from outta space I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face I should have changed that stupid lock I should have made you leave your key If Id have known for just one second youd be back to bother me Go on now go walk out the door Just turn around now cuz your not welcome anymore Werent you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye Did ya think Id crumble Did ya think Id crumble did ya think Id lay down and die Oh no not i, I will survive Oh as long as I know how to love I know ill stay alive Ive got all my life to live Ive got all my love to give Ill survive I will survie hey hey It took all the strength I had not to fall apart And tried so hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart And I spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for myself I used to cry, but now I hold my head up high And you see me..somebody new, Im not that chained up little person still in love with you And so you felt like dropping in and just expect me to be free But now Im saving all my loving for someone whos loving me Go on now go walk out the door Just turn around now cuz your not welcome anymore Werent you the one who tried to break me with goodbye Did ya think Id crumble did ya think Id lay down and die Oh no not I i will survive Oh as long as I know how to love I know ill stay alive Ive got all my life to live Ive got all my love to give Ill survive..i will survive ohh go on now go Walk out the door just turn around now cuz your not welcome anymore Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 15-10-2012 A good song...I like it! Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 16-10-2012 I Will Survive is one of probalby a dozen songs from the disco era that i can actually say that i like a lot....took me a long time, like MH, to like disco...hell, im a big Bee Gees fan and im only now appreciating their disco material. Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 16-10-2012 #491 - Joan Jett & The Blackhearts - I Love Rock & Roll - 1981 me - ** from the album: I Love Rock & Roll Written by Jake Hooker and Alan Merrill Produced by Ritchie Corell and Kenny Laguna Chart action: #1 Billboard Hot 100, #4 U.K. Singles, #1 Australia, #1 Canada the players: Joan Jett – vocals, guitar Gary Ryan – bass, back vocals Irvan Arifin Harahap – guitar, back vocals Lee Crystal – drums Eric Ambel – guitar You gotta admit it was catchy. It should be with that repetition at the end that goes on for roughly 1 minute of the 3 minute song. Don't love this one but I like it. The song that made Joan & the Blackhearts (Runaways were better). Written in 1975 and recorded by a group called Arrow. Joan was trying to get a record deal after running away from the Runaways. She shopped this around to 23 record labels before getting a bite. The rest is history, as the song was a #1 hit and was on the chart for 20 weeks, boosting the album to #2. MTV had just been launched and this song got heavy promotion there. Hope the boys from Arrow are getting their royalties. Lyrics I saw him dancing there by the record machine I knew he must have been about seventeen The beat was going strong Playing my favorite song And I could tell it wouldn't be long till he was with me, yeah me And I could tell it wouldn't be long till he was with me, yeah me Singing, I love rock and roll So put another dime in the jukebox, baby I love rock and roll So come and take your time and dance with me Ow! He smiled, so I got up and asked for his name But that don't matter, he said, 'cause it's all the same He said, "Can I take you home Where we can be alone?" And next we were moving on, he was with me, yeah me Next we were moving on, he was with me, yeah me Singing, I love rock and roll So put another dime in the jukebox, baby I love rock and roll So come and take your time and dance with me Ow! He said, "Can I take you home Where we can be alone?" Next we're moving on, he was with me, yeah me And we'll be moving on and singing that same old song, yeah with me Singing I love rock and roll So put another dime in the jukebox, baby I love rock and roll So come and take your time and dance with me I love rock and roll So put another dime in the jukebox, baby I love rock and roll So come and take your time and dance with I love rock and roll So put another dime in the jukebox, baby I love rock and roll So come and take your time and dance with I love rock and roll So put another dime in the jukebox, baby I love rock and roll So come and take your time and dance with I love rock and roll So put another dime in the jukebox, baby I love rock and roll So come and take your time and dance with me Looking Back At Some Classics - TraceNspace - 16-10-2012 ^^^^I love this song but I'm an 80's kid

Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 17-10-2012 great piece of early eighties rock n roll IMO... this song kept Macca/Stevie's "ebony and ivory" out of the #1 spot here in Australia back in the day Looking Back At Some Classics - Mrrusty1 - 17-10-2012 I love this song .
