Luther Allison Solid Bluesman. Taken under the wing of some big stars, was bigtime in Europe (living and working in France for 20+ years) and came back to serious acclaim, has a terrif Bluesman son (Bernard Allison). It's never wrong to put on one of his discs--the only poor disc in his catalog is a misbegotten effort on Gordy Records.: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/luther-allison-mn0000169856/discography

We'll soon get into the territory of innovators; for now, it's those that burnish solid styles.

Son Seals Big push came from Alligator Records; made all the rest of the steps on his own. He had an expansive, dramatic life but also formed deep friendships with believers.

I'm sure he was metioned before but Rory Gallaher was my favorite. Johnny Winter was hard to beat as a younger guitar slinger.

"Roarin' 40's" Rory Gallagher was briefly covered in Post # 17 (5/8/2014) but please feel free to link to your faves by him. Johnny Winter wasn't on the list but I'll "Special Bonus" him at the end...unless you wanna contribute first.
Bigger point--we all benefit when their is more than just me and The Usual Suspects. Chime in, please do.

Robben Ford Been outstanding since Day 1. I've followed him through every change he's made (nothing radical--change of focus, mainly). Successful collaborations with both the famously prickly Miles Davis AND KISS--that's breadth for you. Outstanding series of instructional DVDs. Here's the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robben_Ford plus these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Vvn1HWj0lU and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzVq9JsBLsI
Now let's get busy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vM0CWfVZczY << what brought him to me--lordy, didn't I just sit straight, gripping those chair arms tightly! And WTF on my lips
Same tune 18 years later: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkoA3O3oLCU << with Larry Carlton

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJJwfdp-A98 << funky vid--I like it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRil3JBW35c << the uploader sure likes this--I join him/her in that
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC7o54kKUSU << From a New Morning Club presentation ( a Paris nightclub with a lot of DVDs therefrom)

BONUS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UpOSjgSqOg << reunion concert with his brothers
