RE: Currently Watching? - Ruby - 09-02-2024 ^One of the more memorable parts of that song, for me, has always been Bob Dylan’s vocal – it’s so very unlike anyone else’s contribution and it's the first bit that plays in my head if I happen to think of the song, for any reason, but OMW – it was excruciating to watch him get there! If you are interested in people you'll find this quite riveting! The dynamics at play were most extraordinary. The dynamics at play were most extraordinary. i just finished watching it Ruby, the dynamics at play were incredible to say the least, im with you on the Dylan vocals, they are the standout on the song for sure and excruciating is an understatement. best part for me was how they chose the individual vocalists and who they would follow and precede, great stuff. it certainly didnt go as smoothly as the Geldof/Midge Ure Band Aid project a year earlier. and to think the Band Aid was written, recorded and released in less than a week was incredible RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 05-03-2024 Netflix doco about the making of, the launching of and subsequent first images from the James Webb Space Telescope. to think of the hundreds of individual elements of things that could have gone wrong during the manufacture and testing of it without the risks associated with its launch and unfolding remotely a million miles from Earth is mind boggling. you dont have to be a space buff to appreciate this doco (but it helps) but the scale of previously untried technology is incredible. some fantasic images shown. to me the JWST is without a doubt one of the wonders of the modern world. excellent stuff IMO RE: Currently Watching? - JeromeD - 05-03-2024 Thx for the head's up Crazy. One I will be watching tonight. Fascinating stuff. Think about the precision required to capture accurate images from billions of kilometers away. The surface of the telescope has to be perfect in every single way. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 05-03-2024 ^^ yup Jerome, an incredible feat of engineering for sure. also watched "volcano: rescue from Whakaari" on Netflix today. tells the story of the victims and rescuers from the New Zealand Whakaari Island volcano eruption in 2019. no image but here is the trailer for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnxGV9RQutE RE: Currently Watching? - JeromeD - 06-03-2024 Oh I saw this one. Very good. Another one to watch is Human Playround. Very interesting. The episode with the woman surfing in Nazare, Portugal is spectacular. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-03-2024 ^^ watching the surfing episode now. love the narration by Idris Elba, his voice is on par with that of Morgan Freeman IMO. the camera work is incredible during her record surf. the cliff diving in Acapulco is pretty ordinary (he says tongue in cheek), Elvis Presley did that in his "fun in acapulco" movie and not a single hair was out of place on his head when he emerged from the water LOL. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-03-2024 i know that the fifth season has been out around a year now but ive just managed to start watching it. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 15-03-2024 just finished binge watching the entire original 8 seasons of Dexter. first time ive watched the series in a decade. thought i rank the series from my favourite to least favourite seasons (not counting the 'new blood' reboot) #1: season 4 "trinity" #2: season 2 "the bay harbor butcher" #3: season 1 "the ice truck killer" #4: season 3 "the skinner" #5: season 5 "the barrel girl murders" #6: season 6 "the doomsday killer" #7: season 8 "brain surgeon" #8: season 7 "ukranian mob syndicate" RE: Currently Watching? - Ruby - 31-03-2024 Just watched a documentary on John Denver because it came up in my feed. A good reminder of those timeless songs of his. Probably not the best made about him, but still ... a very sad loss - gone far too soon. |
