What Are You Listening To? - Ruby - 03-08-2014

I’ve been listening to Rod Argent - his ‘solo’ work, which hardly seems an appropriate way to categorise ‘Moving Home’. Jeepers! Accompanying him - none other than the king of strings himself, Gary Moore, as well as Phil Collins, Jack Lancaster and the esteemed Alphonso Johnson. Very, very nice! This one was released in 1978.

Ten years after (– oops, let’s make that later) he recorded the album ‘Red House’ which is totally different (instrumental) and equally excellent listening – the man is a virtuoso. Here’s a track I love – 'Suite T' - http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Suite+T/3LonHi - couldn’t find anything from Red House on YouTube so had to resort to Grooveshark. I think I might spend a lot more time with the Zombies!

Vocal Group Hall Of Fame in 2006

from my library (cd)

I should have all of their studio albums on cd but it's too late for that. Settled for this 17 track compilation, which scratches the surface of
what I love. Hard to believe the lack of recognition by the industry these guys have, with only a Vocal Group Hall Of Fame entry to their
credit. They did rack up 18 gold and platinum discs over the years. I was on board from Go Now from their Magnificent Moodies set, but don't
look for that album to sound anything like any album after that. They had a hippie transplant and injected some classical music for good measure
which gave us hippical music. The Go Now song is the only #1 hit they had in the UK and it went to #10 here. Their highest charting single here
was Nights In White Satin at #2, which is also my fav. Last charting single was in '88 with I Know Your Out There Somewhere. They had two #1
albums here and three in the UK. Last one was in 2003 and shows no chart activity. They still do the concert thing though and hopefully pull in
a crowd. Well deserving of any respect they can get. Not even any Grammy mentions, what a shame.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

The album is taking Canada by storm!!! Great to see !!!! Not a big fan but I hear they are a fabulous live band !
Ruby Wrote:Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' new album, Hypnotic Eye. Such a relief to hear honest rock! Well seasoned they may be, but a breath of fresh air IMHO.

ive only seen Petty once in concert...
1987....they were Dylan's support act, then also, his band for his show...
Petty was brilliant,Heartbreakers were brilliant and Dylan?
crap as usual!

Great to hear the album is doing well! Takes me right back to Damn the Torpedos and 'Refugee' which will always be my frame of reference for Tom Petty. Fantastic song. The funny thing is, he still sounds the same!

I'd be surprised if people here haven't seen this clip, but just in case ... love, love, love it!!

I think 'hippical' ought to be included in whatever the latest lexicon happens to be! And I echo your sentiments Music Head - how on earth have they remained so unsung? Odd! 'On the Threshold of a Dream' has to be one of my alltime favourites - beautiful album.

What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-08-2014

back to Moody Blues....

"go now" would be my favourite MB track...with Denny Laine on vocals!

love the stuff they did in the 1980s when they reinvented themselves yet again.

good score IMO....

also,
i cant believe they havent got any Grammy's or a R+R HoF induction, they truly deserve it, guess it will take Lodge or Haywood to die first before that happens, damn stupid "rock and roll hall of idiots!"

One of the great torch bearers of progressive music !!!!...love the band!
