Press to Play is a very good underrated album!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:PAUL McCARTNEY "press" b/w "its not true" 1986

very good "a" side from his underrtaed "press to play" album from the same year...
"b" side wasnt on the original vinyl album, but was an added track on the cd version...
love both these tracks, "a" is full of the stock standard Macca melodies.."b" side is Macca having a dig at the anti-Linda brigade...
single only reached #47 here...was a top10 hit in the UK though, so all is redemmed IMO

Could anyone sing better than Elvis!!!...Police's Every Breath You Take is very sentimental...it was out when I met my wife!!!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:THE POLICE "every breath you take" b/w "murder by numbers" 1983

dont worry, this os one Police single i genuinely love...both sides in fact...
the whole "a" side thing is class from go to woe...including the emotive black and white video for it...
"b" side was a track not on the original "syncronicity" album but later released as a bonus track on the cd version...love that one too
single did here what it did everywhere else, it peaked at #1

HOWARD JONES "things can only get better" b/w "why look for the key" 1985

i like this synth driven pop "a" side, then again, i like most of Howard's "a" sides...
and as usual, i dislike his "b" sides just as much!
single peaked at #11 here...

MADONNA "cherish" b/w "supernatural" 1989

"one of only a handful of Madonna singles that i still like after all these years...
sort of a 1960s soul/girl-group sound happening on the "a" side...
"b" side is typical Madonna "b' side crap!
single peaked at #5 here which continued her great run of top10 hits here...

KYLIE MINOGUE "got to be certain" b/w "got to be certain(instrumental)" 1988

Kylie's third single and also her third straight #1 hit here...
"a" side is simple dance pop orientated music...its okay IMO?!
"b" side is another Kylie instrumental of the "a" side...man i feel so ripped off right about now!
Kylie Minogue is the only female singer to rival and possibly even outsell Madonna here since 1987 when she debuted on the charts here
as previously stated, this reached #1 here and spent some 23wks in the top40...

ROD STEWART & THE FACES "oh no, not my baby" b/w "jodie" 1973

i used to love Rod and the Faces so their cover of the Manfred Mann hit was essential purchasing...
obviously love the MM version, this one is okay...
"b" side is good also
single only got to #57 here, but then again he was really just starting off back then...

GEORGE MICHAEL "a different corner" b/w "a different corner(instrumenal)" 1986

George's second solo single, the first was 'careless whisper' which was released whilst he was still in Wham!
this is good stuff, not great but good...
again...feeling ripped off with an instrumental of the "a" side on the "b" side...
single made it to #5 here

THE STYLE COUNCIL "boy who cried wolf" b/w "(when you) call me" 1985

one of their best singles IMO...
brilliant blue-eyed/white boy soul happening here...
single was not released in the UK, they chose "come to milton keynes" instead of Wolf...
single made it to #38 here
