Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 12-08-2015

Back to the Knopfler....
I'm not an instrumental guy as you all know but there is something about his instrumentals that keeps me listening, I especially like his soundtracks to "cal" and "local hero" but I don't like either movie

sorry, forgot to add....
it was a top20 hit in the UK, but wasn't released anywhere else and wasn't on his debut album so its a bit of a rarity, but I own it on 7" vinyl from back in the day, I love it!

^^^Thank you sir! And uh oh! Performance anxiety sets in. May have to hedge my bets.

Dan Fogelberg, born this day in 1951 in Peoria, Illinois. Singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and soft rocker extraordinaire; a beautiful guy who wrote some really beautiful songs and died far too young, at the age of 56, from prostate cancer.

I think a song from The Innocent Age is the one MH is after – but just in case I’m wrong – this is the one that Dan said “put me on the elevators”. He wrote it whilst on holiday, “lounging in a hammock one night and looking up at the stars. It just seems this song was drifting around the universe, saw me, and decided I'd give it a good home.” – well … swoon! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Go6I2_PpBU

This was written as a tribute to his father, Lawrence, who I’m glad to say, was alive to hear it when it was released in 1981. A virtual record player here, complete with little crackles …

Wow! Lucky guess. ^Aaah - the Kentucky connection! Nice.

David Van Cortlandt Crosby was born on this day in 1941, in the City of Angels, California. An angel, he isn’t, however (except in terms of soaring vocals and vaguely cherubic appearance), and it’s a miracle he’s survived at all, not to mention putting out a none too shabby fairly recent album – Croz.

A co-founder of the Byrds, CSN (& the occasional Y), and CPR (with his son, James Raymond) - his and Graham Nash’s harmonies are a thing of distinction – a very special combination indeed – seldom found, instantly recognisable. He has also worked extensively as a session musician, both by himself and with Nash, collaborating with various musical luminaries, David Gilmour, Phil Collins (who paid for his liver transplant), Elton John, Jackson Browne, etc., etc.,

He wrote/or co-wrote these:

The one that instantly springs to mind as synonymous with Crosby - [URL="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK3TIYG9mqM"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK3TIYG9mqM

The gorgeous “Wooden Ships” - [URL="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O69L2mO9y-4"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O69L2mO9y-4

The even more heartachingly gorgeous “Delta” - [URL="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRyZ86C6urY"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRyZ86C6urY

…and from Croz “What’s Broken”, with MK on guitar ….

Ted Dwane was born on this day in 1984. He is the bass/double bass player and some vocals for Mumford & Sons – he is also a photographer. I don’t know what to make of this band, but that’s just me … This track is from their debut album -

back to Mumford and Sons....
their debut "sigh no more", wasn't bad....
"babel", I bought it on the back of the debut, its a piece of crap...
the third album(cant even remember its name), hated the lead off single so I never even bothered with it...

theyre a confused bunch of musos IMO, they don't seem to know what to play...."jacks of all trades, masters of none" IMHO.
