Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 12-08-2015 Back to the Knopfler.... I'm not an instrumental guy as you all know but there is something about his instrumentals that keeps me listening, I especially like his soundtracks to "cal" and "local hero" but I don't like either movie Born on this day ... - Music Head - 13-08-2015 I'll let Ruby do Dan hope she picks the right track Feargal Sharkey - born on this day in 1958 in Ireland that would make him 57 Undertones plus solo work Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 13-08-2015 here's Feargal's debut solo single from 1984, it was written by the guys in Madness.... Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 13-08-2015 sorry, forgot to add.... it was a top20 hit in the UK, but wasn't released anywhere else and wasn't on his debut album so its a bit of a rarity, but I own it on 7" vinyl from back in the day, I love it! Born on this day ... - Ruby - 13-08-2015 ^^^Thank you sir! And uh oh! Performance anxiety sets in. May have to hedge my bets. Dan Fogelberg, born this day in 1951 in Peoria, Illinois. Singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and soft rocker extraordinaire; a beautiful guy who wrote some really beautiful songs and died far too young, at the age of 56, from prostate cancer. I think a song from The Innocent Age is the one MH is after â but just in case Iâm wrong â this is the one that Dan said âput me on the elevatorsâ. He wrote it whilst on holiday, âlounging in a hammock one night and looking up at the stars. It just seems this song was drifting around the universe, saw me, and decided I'd give it a good home.â â well ⦠swoon! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Go6I2_PpBU This was written as a tribute to his father, Lawrence, who Iâm glad to say, was alive to hear it when it was released in 1981. A virtual record player here, complete with little crackles ⦠ Born on this day ... - Music Head - 13-08-2015 lol I'll be damned that was one of the 2 I had in mind either one can do it to me the other Born on this day ... - Ruby - 14-08-2015 Wow! Lucky guess. ^Aaah - the Kentucky connection! Nice. David Van Cortlandt Crosby was born on this day in 1941, in the City of Angels, California. An angel, he isnât, however (except in terms of soaring vocals and vaguely cherubic appearance), and itâs a miracle heâs survived at all, not to mention putting out a none too shabby fairly recent album â Croz. A co-founder of the Byrds, CSN (& the occasional Y), and CPR (with his son, James Raymond) - his and Graham Nashâs harmonies are a thing of distinction â a very special combination indeed â seldom found, instantly recognisable. He has also worked extensively as a session musician, both by himself and with Nash, collaborating with various musical luminaries, David Gilmour, Phil Collins (who paid for his liver transplant), Elton John, Jackson Browne, etc., etc., He wrote/or co-wrote these: The one that instantly springs to mind as synonymous with Crosby - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK3TIYG9mqM The gorgeous âWooden Shipsâ - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O69L2mO9y-4 The even more heartachingly gorgeous âDeltaâ - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRyZ86C6urY â¦and from Croz âWhatâs Brokenâ, with MK on guitar â¦. Born on this day ... - Ruby - 15-08-2015 Ted Dwane was born on this day in 1984. He is the bass/double bass player and some vocals for Mumford & Sons â he is also a photographer. I donât know what to make of this band, but thatâs just me ⦠This track is from their debut album - Born on this day ... - Music Head - 16-08-2015 Madonna - born on this day in 1958 in Michigan that would make her 57 my favorite Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 16-08-2015 back to Mumford and Sons.... their debut "sigh no more", wasn't bad.... "babel", I bought it on the back of the debut, its a piece of crap... the third album(cant even remember its name), hated the lead off single so I never even bothered with it... theyre a confused bunch of musos IMO, they don't seem to know what to play...."jacks of all trades, masters of none" IMHO. |
