RE: Currently Watching? - Ruby - 21-05-2021 ^This performance stands head and shoulders above the rest, IMHO. So tasteful, simple and authentic compared to some of the others - I hope France wins. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 21-05-2021 ^^ yes very nice RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 24-05-2021 Netflix tv series as reco'd by MH...
humorous series that follows three Detroit women that due to circumstances rob a general store only to find the mob is after them because a lot of money in the safe they stole was mob related. by time the mob gets to them a lot of the money has been spent, the three women then have to work for the gang to pay back what they owe... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Wiki: Good Girls (TV series) - Wikipedia about half a dozen episodes of the first season in at the moment and i like it... RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 27-05-2021 ![]() on Netflix: sci-fi disaster movie: a sleeper ship with 5000 inhabitants in hibernation on their way to 'the new world'.... ship gets hit by small asteroid and accident causes one man (Chris Pratt) to awaken from hibernation 90 years early due to systems malfunction. after one year alone on the ship he deliberatley awakens one woman (Jennifer Lawrence), they fall in love, until an android unwittingly tells her she was deliberately awaken by Pratt... etc etc..... Wiki: Passengers (2016 film) - Wikipedia excellent sci-fi and a refreshing change to be without aliens, nudity, foul language and violence. great movie 4/5 RE: Currently Watching? - Ruby - 30-05-2021 Elvis Presley: The Searcher A two-part documentary. I’m not at all an Elvis fan and don’t know that much about him – missed out completely on the furore, so this was an interesting watch for me. I can see how he drew people in, and that music was deep in his soul – he really did know those songs he loved, every single nuance of them. I wonder why he never wrote songs - anyone? Or was it simply his métier to interpret? Amazing to think that rock n roll was pretty much helped on its way as the result of an involuntary leg twitch! From the perspective of this movie, it seems that Elvis was basically a commodity – a phenomenon of his time and a casualty too - someone who seems to have been fairly easily manipulated; the filmmakers play heavily on the fact that his whole career was controlled by Colonel Tom Parker – crazy to think he held so much sway over such a famous personality. It’s a mystery – these co-dependencies. Priscilla Presley loans some commentary along the way, naturally – nicely sanitized I suspect! And Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen have a few words too. It covers his humble beginnings, military draft and film career, and then gets a bit rushed towards the end and his death – not sensationalised, which is good – and not gossipy, ditto. Feels like there’s a chunk they’re missing in the second part though. It’s worth an airing IMHO. Sorry to say that I’m still not a fan - missed that boat, along with a few others! But I am a little more understanding of what he was all about, and why. (The pic of him in the poster shows brown eyes - contact lenses for a test shoot) RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 31-05-2021 ^^ that wasnt an "involuntary leg twitch" Ruby (the facts as seen on Forest Gump hahaha) BTW im yet to see The Searcher, just glad you didnt spoil the plot Ruby
RE: Currently Watching? - Ruby - 03-06-2021 ^^Oooh - so that's the story! Inspired concept - kinda wicked! LOL. I am not well versed in Gumpisms. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-06-2021 ^^ i have highlighted "the searcher" Ruby i will watchit over the weekend as we are expecting 'stay inside' wet weather.... RE: Currently Watching? - Rogue - 05-06-2021 The Young Victoria (movie) with Emily Blunt, 2009. I have watched the series with Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes twice and loved the settings and atmosphere and of course the acting. And Rufus Sewell! That guy can do ANYTHING can't he? Now wanting to see if Emily Blunt and company can hold a candle to that series..... (20-05-2021, 20:34)Ruby Wrote: Eurovision Song Contest. Bring back ABBA. IKR? lol....it's been at least 5 years since I've had interest in watching Eurovision. So still not worth it? RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-06-2021 i havent seen it but i think Emily Blunt could almost certainly pull of the role, shes a great actress IMO... have you seen her performance in "the girl on the train"? she was excellent in that one, good movie also. |
