I will definitely watch Sherpa when it becomes available to me, which it’s not at the moment. It’s an ongoing paradox that for the most part, the act of humans exploring or moving into an area of great scenic beauty in any significant number changes the very nature of the place and the reason they went there to begin with. That said, we all got a taste of how quickly nature reclaims her ground when humans lie low. Pity it takes a pandemic!

I’ve seen Everest and also read the book Touching My Father’s Soul, by Jamling Norgay (who was on the team filming) which gets into the events of 1996 as well as shedding some light generally from the perspective of the Sherpas. That and Tigers of the Snow give good insight.

On a different note, I recently watched The Theory of Everything which is based on Jane Hawking's biography. Shewy - to keep going for so long and to achieve what Stephen Hawking did against all the those physical odds is nothing short of miraculous. Not sure how many people wouldn't have just thrown in the towel - both of them had so much to deal with, and yet, what a wry sense of humour that man had ... “The downside of my celebrity is that I cannot go anywhere in the world without being recognized. It is not enough for me to wear dark sunglasses and a wig. The wheelchair gives me away.” Must attempt to read him again one of these days. In an odd way, the fact that he had to be sparing with words might have made him even more articulate. It's a funny old world.

HRH Phillip's funeral highlights on the news (well, not sure i'd call anything from a funeral a 'highlight!)

i felt so sad for poor Queenie...
she looked so forlorn sitting there in the front pew.
so amazed at her strength to remain composed with no immediate support.
i know they were following covid restrictions, but come on, lets have some humanity during a funeral FFS !

as a footnote:

im sure the paparazzi will be analyzing the camera footage and determining what they believe transpired between everyone and Harry during the service and it will be all over the gossip mags over the next few weeks.

on Netflix.

a hasbeen alcoholic former mob enforcer kills his old boss' son as he tried to kill his son...
his boss wants him and his son dead...
typical Neeson flick where he has to take on the 'big guns' singlehandley against all odds to save a family member...

stars,  Neeson (obviously), Vincent D'Onofrio and Ed Harris .

three great actors couldnt lift this plot out of the average rating.

rating:  2.5/5

Watched 'Rocketman' last night. I was really looking forward to this but was horribly disappointed. Probably the worst depiction of a famous musician ever. Acting was atrocious, the movie a mix between dance routines and documentary - at one point they even manage to screw up his lyrics - you'd think that they would at least research these things. Songs were out of order with the sequence of his career and lyrics were used to underpin nauseating disco-type dance routines. A cheap, trash-flash production with no idea of what the man was about at all. Avoid if you are an Elton John fan, which I am.

1/10 - yes it really is THAT bad.

And as fate would have it Elton has just come on the radio while I was typing the previous post. Philadelphia Freedom.

^^
cheap trash flash....exactly what Elton is/was LOL.

but yeah, i noticed the sequencing of bits of his life and the songs were out of chronological order whilst watching also.

didnt Elton have input into the biopic????, i thought he did but i could be wrong.

Some YouTube doccies that I found on the Romanovs. Such a tragic history.

RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 16-05-2021

i started watching Seaspiracy and gave up on it for two main reasons:

1: the fact that the dude making it thought "japanese whale/dolphin hunting was a thing of the past before he started making it" WTF!
and
2: i couldnt watch the senseless slaughter of pods of dolphins, sorry, i cant handle animal cruelty.

so,
we watched a psychological thriller instead:

James McAvoy, plays a man with 20+ personalities, excellent portrayal IMO

4/5 for suspense
