RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-04-2021 i went to watch Kodachrome and its not on Netflix Australia yet, strange, because i saw it advertised somewhere! RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-04-2021 Netflix movie - Once Upon A Time In London UK Crime Drama Wiki: Once Upon a Time in London - Wikipedia based on the rise of organised crime in London pre WWII and on through the 50s-60s good to see a movie based on other real life gangsters than the more famously known infamous Kray Twins. Rating: 3.5/5 RE: Currently Watching? - Jerome - 09-04-2021 Watched 'Sherpa' last night/this morning. Seems like the Sherpas are now starting to become very vocal about the way they are treated. In years of old they did not have much in the way of education but these days it's a different story. The climbing season has not taken place at all for 2 of the last ten years. One due to an accident where more than 13 Sherpas died in the Khumbu Icefall. Once it was due to an earthquake in the Himalayas where 7000 Nepalese people died. Some of the Sherpas on Everest were killed as well. So they are now campaigning for better treatment and a bigger slice of the pie. And some Sherpas, an aggressive politicised few, have now also taken to threatening their fellow comrades, saying they will break their legs if they continue on with expeditions. Seems like the reputation of the Nepalese as being a friendly and helpful people has been tarnished by a couple of radical militants. I understand their demands for reforms but when you start threatening violence you have crossed a line - and there's no going back. Anyway, Everest is getting her own back due to global warming. The Khumbu Icefall is melting and shifting more during the day now, meaning it is safer to travel at night, but ironically more dangerous as well because of limited vision. Maybe it's time to leave the mountain alone? As much as I admire what mountaineers achieve I sometimes wonder if a lot of it has to do with ego. An extremely wealthy woman hired a huge crew to guide her up the mountain. Their job was to get her to the summit of Everest. When the whole entourage arrived at base camp they discovered that she had never climbed a mountain at all in her life, let alone an 8848m peak. But she was pretty pushy and convinced the team to take her up. She summited but lost her life on the way down due to fatigue and altitude sickness. They should have refused to guide her up but at the end of the day money talks! Also watched 'Unabomber' - fascinating series. What he did was wrong, but his manifesto raises some uncomfortable home truths. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 09-04-2021 ^^ sounds interesting Jerome.. yeah, i am not sure whether i admire those who climb peaks for their courage or their lack of fear... i would love to do that sort of thing but alas, get me 10ft up a ladder and im almost pooping myself! started watching an English crime series called Peaky Blinders first three episodes are okay, still not into it yet, will finish the first season to see where it goes (in the 'continue' file or the 'forget it' file)... RE: Currently Watching? - Jerome - 09-04-2021 My problem would not be heights but the cold. I do not cope with extreme cold very well. Hey opening the refrigerator is a hazard for me. Except when I'm getting a beer. It's a tough job but someone's got to do it. BTW I could not get into Peaky Blinders at all. Gave up on that early on. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 09-04-2021 thanks for the opinion of Peaky Blinders Jerome its pretty much what my parents said also... i guess time will tell... RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-04-2021 on Netflix - "RUN" thriller stars Sarah Paulson as the psychotic mother and Keira Allen as her wheelchair confined teenage daughter... mother is basically doping the daughter up on medications she doesnt need. daughter finds out and its a cat and mouse game to escape... the Wiki: Run (2020 American film) - Wikipedia rating: 3.5/5 BTW i gave up on Peaky Blinders six episodes in and it was still chasing its own tail... RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 12-04-2021 LONG SHOT on Netflix a 40 minute short documentary film about how Juan Catalan was arrested for a murder he did not commit. A TV show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, contains raw footage that was instrumental in proving his innocence the Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Shot_(2017_film) RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 12-04-2021 had the urge to watch this 'disaster' movie again after watching Sherpa the other day. still an good movie based on actual events but obviously dramatised for Hollywood... the Wiki: Everest (2015 film) - Wikipedia movie 3/5 scenery 5/5 |
