RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-03-2021 SAVAGE (watched on 'Stan') New Zealand crime drama. based on part fiction/part non fiction tales from a troublesome youth who went through the 'borstal/detention' system. story follows him as he forms one of the early crime gangs in the country. not as much violence as i thought there would be but what is seen shows how brutal things can be in that environment.. sorry, no Wiki page. Rating 4/5 RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-03-2021 the third and final movie in the trilogy. love all three of these movies, great stuff: Rating: 4/5 Wiki: Back to the Future Part III - Wikipedia RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 14-03-2021 UK sit-com starring the incredible Dawn French... based around a female Vicar in a small parish in the fictional village of Dibley... revisiting for the first time in a long/ long time.... filmed shortly after the Anglican Church allowed female to become Ordained as Ministers... Wiki: The Vicar of Dibley - Wikipedia Dawn's Wiki: Dawn French - Wikipedia excellent show IMO. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 17-03-2021 completed The Vicar Of Dibley... superb series but final episode was a bit disappointing (much like the Seinfeld finale also) also finished Justified for a third time, excellent, excellent and excellent! RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-03-2021 BBC: HARDtalk not a segment i usually watch because the host Stephen Sackur is so bloody biased in his interview style and can usually not miss an opportunity to put the boots into anyone who he believes doesnt support his Woke agenda... anyway, i watched becuase he interviewed Stephen King (the novelist). it was pretty much a decent generic interview comparing the horrors of the current pandemic to those King writes about in his novels. then he and King both had to have a jab at Trump at the end comparing him to King's main character in The Dead Zone novel/tele-movie. up till that point it was a good interview discussing the way the industry has changed (e-books), his near death accident when run down by a vehicle back in the late '90s, his previous addictions and his inspirations. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-04-2021 CRAWL (on Netflix) a 2019 'disaster/thriller' movie. cat-5 storm hits Florida and causes major flooding obviously, the 'gators move into neighborhoods. seems far fetched but this scenario did happen in The Big Easy during Katrina... movie has been Hollywood sensationalised becuase, well, its a movie. but the idea is there... Wiki: Crawl (2019 film) - Wikipedia was a half decent movie not scary in the scheme of these style of movies but shocking in the fact that this is entirely plausable Rating: 3.5 RE: Currently Watching? - Ruby - 02-04-2021 Kodachrome With a curmudgeonly Ed Harris who is one of my favourite actors – he plays Ben Ryder a world famous photographer who for one or the other reason has become mean and nasty over the years and is estranged from his son. He’s also dying of liver cancer. Ben has several rolls of film that he wants to get developed at the last remaining shop that can process it – a place in Kansas named Dwayne’s Photo. There’s a timeframe as Dwaynes will stop processing Kodachrome soon since Kodak no longer makes the dyes that are needed. Ben can only travel overland as flying in his medical condition is out of the question so after some reluctance on the son's part, they and the nurse embark on a road trip. It’s a fairly predictable plot but was enjoyable nonetheless – not earth shatteringly important but easy is good sometimes and there were a good couple of truths to be found. Music punctuates the movie – Matt (Ben’s son) is a struggling record label rep and has loved listening forever. There are also some very recognisable songs on the soundtrack – “Breathe” by Pearl Jam, Graham Nash’s “Wounded Bird” and Live’s “I Alone” among others. Worth a watch IMHO, especially for Ed Harris fans. I don't know whether the story or the premise is based on a New York Times article – "For Kodachrome Fans, Road Ends at Photo Lab in Kansas". It's one or the other!
RE: Currently Watching? - Jerome - 02-04-2021 Seen the movie. Like the subject of the photographs he develops at the end. RE: Currently Watching? - Ruby - 02-04-2021 Yes - it's a healing ending. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-04-2021 ^^ its on my 'to watch' list since i returned to Netflix a couple of days ago. |
