Always loved Brass in Pocket from day one...spot on regarding the sex appeal mate!!!!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:PRETENDERS "brass in pocket" b/w "swingin' london" & "nervous but shy" 1979

Chrissie Hynde and Co's third single, but fist hit single...
these guys couldnt make it in the US, so they relocated to the UK and made it big!
"a" side is really sultry stuff,Hynde oozes sex appeal here....this is a classic song from the ashes of Punk...
"b" side tracks are instrumentals, the first one is okay, but i dont care for the second one...
single peaked at #2 here

DENNIS WATERMAN "i could be so good for you" b/w "nothing at all" 1981

Dennis was an English actor who sung the theme song("a" side here) to his "minder" tv series...
he's not a bad singer IMO...in the mold of David Essex...
i like both sides of this single...
single reached the top10 in the UK and #9 here...

STEVIE WONDER "part time lover" b/w "part time lover(instrumental)" 1985

a very good single from a guy into his third decade in the music business...
i like the "a" side a lot(but not love it!), "b" side is Wonder's usual 1980s piece of crap instrumental version of the "a" side...
single peaked at #3 here back in the day

JOHN LENNON "every man has a woman who loves him" b/w "its alright" 1984

"a" side is a John song...
"b" side is the vocal debut of youngest son Sean...
"a" side is okay...
"b" side sounds like the sort of crap Yoko would release
single failed to chart here.

CULTURE CLUB "the medal song" b/w "dont go down that street" 1984

these guys had had their fifteen minutes of fame by this time...
i bought this one prior to hearing it,and on the strength of their previous songs/albums...
"B" side is even worse than the "a" side...
pretty sure this single was from their last album called "waking up with the house on fire"(which i didnt get)...
and im sure their house was "on fire" by this time as they split up shortly thereafter!
single failed to chart here, and rightfully so!

JULIAN LENNON "because" b/w "because(instrumental)" 1985

Dave Clark of Dave Clark Five, wrote this one, it was part of a music stage show entitled "time"...
sort of a ballad...sounds like the stuff John did around 1980ish...good song
single only reached #66...

BOB GELDOF "this is the world calling" b/w "take me up" 1986

this is Bob on his 'feed the world' campaign stuff...
gotta admire the man for his convictions, but at this time he was as pretentious as Bono is now...must be something in Guiness that does it to ya i guess???
average song, but passable, but the "b" side, i can leave that one thanks!

ANNIE LENNOX & AL GREEN "put a little love in your heart" b/w "a great big piece of love" 1988

Annie has one of the best female voices in pop/rock IMO, and she puts every ounce of her soul into this one...great stuff!
Al, this was my introduction to Al as a vocalist, but i was aware he had a few hits in the 1970s...
in hindsight, this is one of his best vocal prformances IMO...
love the "a" side, great stuff!, "b" side is predominatly an instrumental with a few gospel type sounds thrown in for good measure, this track is by Annie's former partner in crime Dave Stewart!
single peaked at #8 here, probably deserved the top spot, but so be it!
