#384 - Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall Part 2 - 1979

running recap for me - 3's=63, 2's=44, 1's=10
this one - ***
from the album: The Wall
Written by Roger Waters
Produced by Bob Ezrin, Roger Waters, David Gilmour
Chart action: #1 US, ?? UK

the players:
you know who they are
leave me alone

I love it, but as with any great concept album, listening to just one track don't get it. I
think it was the childrens choir that made this so good for me. I'm a sucker for those. First
time I heard this was as part of the entire album. You missed a lot if you heard this by
itself. There are actually 3 parts to this song, and I guess Part 2 was released as a single.
The 3 parts do not run back to back so how can you split it up like that.
I'm gettin ' pissed, so just listen to it.

Lyrics

We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey teacher leave them kids alone
All in all it's just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall

We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey teacher leave us kids alone
All in all you're just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall

Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-02-2013

like you said...needs to be listened to as an 'entire album'...of which, it is one of the greatest albums ever IMO(especially for a double album anyway)...

impossible to knock the album in any way, i even love the art work on the cover "***"

#383 - Chuck Berry - Brown Eyed Handsome Man - 1956

running recap for me - 3's=63, 2's=45, 1's=10
this one - **
from the album: After School Session
Written by Chuck Berry
Produced by Leonard Chess, Phill Chess
Chart action: did not chart

the players:
Chuck Berry - guitar, vocal
Johnnie Johnson - piano
L. C. Davis - tenor saxophone
Willie Dixon - bass
Fred Below - drums

Love most of Chucks, but not this one. This is from Chucks debut album, and was the b-side to
Too Much Monkey Business, another one I didn't care for. Written after a California visit when
Cuck saw a young latino being arrested. Interesting that the legendary Willie Dixon played bass
on this.

Lyrics

Arrested on charges of unemployment,
he was sitting in the witness stand
The judge's wife called up the district attorney
Said you free that brown eyed man
You want your job you better free that brown eyed man

Flying across the desert in a TWA,
I saw a woman walking across the sand
She been a walkin' thirty miles en route to Bombay
To get a brown eyed handsome man
Her destination was a brown eyed handsome man

Way back in history three thousand years
In fact every since the world began
There's been a whole lot of good women sheddin' tears
For a brown eyed handsome man
It's a lot of trouble was brown eyed handsome man

Beautiful daughter couldn't make up her mind
Between a doctor and a lawyer man
Her mother told her darlin' go out and find yourself
A brown eyed handsome man
Just like your daddy, he's a brown eyed handsome man

Milo Venus was a beautiful lass
She had the world in the palm of her hand
But she lost both her arms in a wrestling match
To get brown eyed handsome man
She fought and won herself a brown eyed handsome man

Two, three count with nobody on
He hit a high fly into the stand
Rounding third he was headed for home
It was a brown eyed handsome man
That won the game; it was a brown eyed handsome man

#382 - Sam Cooke - Wonderful World - 1960

running recap for me - 3's=64, 2's=45, 1's=10
this one - ***
from the album: The Wonderful World Of Sam Cooke
Written by Sam Cooke, Herb Alpert, Lou Adler
Produced by Sam Cooke, Lou Adler
Chart action: #12 US, #27 UK

the players:
Sam Cooke - vocal
Lou Rawls - backing vocal
Adolphus Asbrook - bass
Ronald Selico - drums
Cliff White - guitar

Love most everything by the man. My Best Of set with 20+ tracks is probably one of the highest
scoring cd's in my collection. Didn't know Herb Alpert had a hand in this, and Lou Rawls on
backup. Loved Hermans Hermits version of this also, which charted higher than Sams in both the
US and UK.

Lyrics

Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the French I took

But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me, too
What a wonderful world this would be

Don't know much about geography
Don't know much trigonometry
Don't know much about algebra
Don't know what a slide rule is for

But I do know one and one is two
And if this one could be with you
What a wonderful world this would be

Now, I don't claim to be an A student
But I'm trying to be
For maybe by being an A student, baby
I can win your love for me

Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the French I took

But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me, too
What a wonderful world this would be

La ta ta ta ta ta ta (History)
Hmm-mm-mm (Biology)
La ta ta ta ta ta ta (Science book)
Hmm-mm-mm (French I took)

Yeah, but I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me, too
What a wonderful world this would be
