RE: Currently Watching? - Jerome - 02-08-2020 The Imitation Game - probably the best thing I have seen this year. RE: Currently Watching? - Jerome - 03-08-2020 Hey CH can't remember if I posted this before or not. Have you seen this? First saw this when I was a teen. https://youtu.be/sGdQCqnqcww RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-08-2020 you may well have posted it Jerome, i cannot remember but if you did then i missed it mate. interesting track, a lot better than the crap Yoko Ono made! all i know about that track is that it was recorded by Wings during the Band On The Run sessions. was obviously a throw-away track back then but 100 times better than most of the crap in today's charts! had thought about investing in Linda's "wild prairie" album but never got round to it, maybe i should...its on the list! RE: Currently Watching? - Jerome - 08-08-2020 'The Surrounding Game' on Netflix. Not an entertaining movie as such but very interesting nevertheless. All about a board game from the Far East which is far more complex than chess. 'Go' goes as far back as the 6th Century and originated in China but is played all over the Far East. I never even knew this game existed until today. You can teach an old dog new tricks! Ruby I am willing to bet you would be very good at this. I would be totally crap. I don't like strategies or even playing games for that matter. Don't have the patience (another game I don't like) for it. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-08-2020 ^^ i dont have the patience to do jigsaw puzzles. Dani can do them all day long, ie: 1500-3000 piece ones, me i dont have the patience to complete a 20 piece 3yo puzzle....seriously! back to the post above. that board game is news to me also mate. RE: Currently Watching? - Ruby - 09-08-2020 ^^I've heard of 'Go' but never known much about it - the movie sounds interesting. Most I ever get around to is a very occasional game of Backgammon. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 09-08-2020 a doco story on BBC World about black american painter/artist Faith Ringgold and her struggles to be accepted in the segregated South as a serious artist. she was interviewed and at age 89 she still has all of her faculties in place! i had never heard of her prior to this doco but heres her Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faith_Ringgold a movie should be made about her life iMO. RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 11-08-2020 ![]() GAGA: five foot two a Netflix doco. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaga:_Five_Foot_Two behind the scenes footage at home, recording the "joanne" album, on the set recording her appearances in American Horror Story and finally culminates in her Superbowl rehearsals. had no idea she suffers from chronic pain with fibromyalgia. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ i watch this and see a vunerable woman one minute, a confident successful artiste the next followed by someone who is so far out there it makes me think Yoko and Bjork are 'normal' LOL. all up though she comes across as a serious artist who is in control of her career and calculates every move and the consequences/possibilities of every move before she makes them. she also appears to be quite down to earth and remembers who she was before success came her way. i was quite impressed with the doco the only criticism i have is that it would have been nice to see the Superbowl performance. rating 4/5 revisiting this Stephen King sci-fi western movie. Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Tower_(2017_film) stars two brilliant actors: in Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. movie was slammed by critics and fans. ive never read the 7 novel Dark Tower series of books so i enjoyed the movie. Rating: 3.5/5 which is pretty darn good for most things Stephen King! RE: Currently Watching? - Ruby - 11-08-2020 The story of the torture and murder of Victor Jara and the circumstances surrounding. Terribly sad - the absolutely evil Pinochet regime - that human beings can do such terrible things to one another is beyond belief and yet it happens, throughout history, with alarming regularity. Many more people were 'disappeared' at the time, none of whose lives were of any less value, but Victor Jara was a public figure and his killing was a particularly despicable act. I don't think he intended to be an 'activist' per se - just a troubadour, singing his beliefs with a genuine feeling for his countrymen and women. Such a powerful thing were his songs and his persona that he posed a threat that needed to be silenced. I've spoken about tribute songs to him on the board before - Bruce Springsteen is moved to tears doing his - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zX2L-RiGRI - this was an honest, guileless, humble man with a gift for unifying and moving his audience with his prose and clarity. His wife Joan has fought relentlessly and tirelessly to bring his murderers to book and to preserve his memory and legacy - she's in her 90's now - a lifetime's unflagging work. Arlo Guthrie's tribute ... RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 11-08-2020 i watched the doco Ruby... very, very good indeed. well worth watching peeps if you havent seen it! |
