I find all things related to space exploration absolutely fascinating. Have no interest in alien-type nonsense. But the universe is a fascinating place. It's incredible how small this little blue marble is compared to the gigantic systems out there. It's a wonder we survive at all. When our sun eventually dies (as all suns do) the explosion/implosion will completely fry any planets orbiting it, including the one we live on. Those in the know say that will only happen in the distant future but they all agree it will eventually happen. Now there is a light show worth seeing but certainly not experiencing! No, your suntan lotion isn't going to help...

^^
im with you mate, the whole space thing fascinates me also.

love the images that Hubble takes, if I could find a book dedicated to those images I would purchase it for sure.

theres an interesting series of docos (only five episodes sadly!) called "wonders of the solar system" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonders_of_the_Solar_System

its hosted by Professor Brian Cox, a British Physicist https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Cox_(physicist)
and he explains things in layman's terms so its especially good for kids to get a basic grasp of The Univers (and grown up kids too LOL!)

well worth a watch if you get a chance, we get it on "BBC Earth" channel here in Australia.

speaking of Hubble, I just googled it and theres a few books dedicated to it.
going to have to check them out.

SKIN (2018 biographical movie)

Wiki:   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin_(2018_feature_film)

plot:   After an incident with setting a mosque on fire, Bryon Widner (Jamie Bell) decides to quit white supremacist movement. He marries Julie (Danielle Macdonald) and begins to work odd jobs alongside illegal workers, who accept him.
White supremacist members retaliate by shooting out his home with him and his pregnant wife Julie inside, but both are unharmed. When Bryon steps out, he sees his dog hanging from the tree.
Bryon meets with political activist Daryle Lamont Jenkins (Mike Colter) and agent Marks (Mary Stuart Masterson) in the FBI office. Using information Bryon has provided them, the FBI raids the white supremacist compound where Gavin tries to run but gets shot. Krager (Bill Camp) is arrested.
Jenkins continues heading the One People's Project and remains good friends with Bryon. Bryon undergoes two years of surgeries to have all his face and hand tattoos removed. He works on getting a degree in criminal psychology and speaks around the country about tolerance and inclusion from his own experience.

seems to have a bit more relevance in this current day and age.

THE CLEANERS

89minute, 2018 documentary about the individuals employed to 'censor' the internet.
these are the people who work for Google, Facebook,Youtube,Twitter etc who monitor and if necessary delete posts/videos etc.

its a real eye opener to the stresses these employees have the decisions whether to delete or allow access to product.

doco consists of a lot of interviews with these so-called 'cleaners', mainly in Manila, osme are current employees, other ex-employees,
not sure if i could do that job because they have to watch some pretty disturbing material at times.

well worth a view to get inside the workings internet censorship

MOLLY

biopic on the life of music guru Ian "molly" Meldrum.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molly_Meldrum
centres around his TV music show "countdown" (1974-87) which was the prototype for music programs all over the world.
his struggles with his sexuality and alcohol.

starts off with his accident in 2011 in which he suffered brain damage https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molly_Meldrum#2011_accident  and heads back to the early 1970s.
________________________________________________________________________

to put things in perspective:

songwriter, record producer, DJ, TV presenter/interviewer, confidante to the stars, music promoter.

he worked at Apple Corp in the late 1960s and became good friends with Beatles, he was the first person John Lennon told that he was leaving the band.
he was given one of the first ten pressings of White Album signed by the band.
he was the only person invited to attend the private funerals of both George and John (and went).
he helped Bob Geldof organise artists for the Live Aid concert in 1985.
he used to give advice to musicians like Bowie, Elton, Rod, Madonna as to which songs to release as singles.
he is the "molly" in Obla-di Obla-da.
when he had his accident in 2011 it was a whos-who of music sent wishes, cards and flowers to the hospital he was in.
he is possibly one of the single most important figures in the music industry yet few people outside of Australia actually know who he is, apart from Rock Royalty.

well worth a look if you get the chance at anytime.

a light hearted almost comical look at the most unlikely impresario in rock history.

RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 29-07-2020

a news article on BBC World about slavery.
had no idea that before the West took slaves from Africa, over a period of several hundred years, traders from the Middle East did the same thing, was also prevalent for African nations to make slaves of persons from other African nations.
_________________________________________________________________________________

a documentary about "The Essex Boys", a notorious gangster organisation in the UK that evolved from the downfall of Ronnie & Reggie Kray's crime organisation in London in the 1960s...
(i have an interest in anything Kray related due to the fact that a Great Uncle of mine was a 'debt collector'/'enforcer'/'hard-man' for the organisation back in the day.i never met him but i have stories from my Dad)

RE: Currently Watching? - Jerome - 29-07-2020

A lot of people don't seem to get the fact that many slaves from Africa were sold by their own families and communities to traders from all over the world. That part always seems to get airbrushed out of the picture because it does not suit the current political agenda. But you can't deny the reality. That's what happened. And look who's behind the human trafficking trade today. You make more money trafficking humans than selling drugs these days. You make them pay up front to get on a dodgy, overloaded, rubber boat and send them across the Mediterranean and you carry no risk whatsoever. And because of the total mismanagement of the African continent there's a never-ending queue of customers. The human race is truly twisted.

And when China takes over the whole of Africa you are going to see a very different world. They are not going to put up with the cartels who are currently running the continent into the ground. The Mugabes of this world will be gone for good. Just a matter of time. As George Harrison once said - 'All Things Must Pass'. So right!
