Over to the new cd stack. Realized I only had one Marvin Gaye album. That's just not right.
Took care of it with this 17 song compilation. Title refers to number one songs on the r&b
chart. Thirteen of these meet that goal. Then, as a bonus, they give us four tracks that only
made it to number two. Just leaves me wondering if he had any number three hits. I always
expect good liner notes on a compilation, but this one falls flat. Basically a track list, with
author and when it charted, not even times. So I can't say much for the packaging here. As for
as the meat, I love twelve of the seventeen tracks, four of those with Tammi Tarelle. One I
don't like at all with the track Got To Give It Up, which just sounds like a party going on.
Tough job on a favorite here. Settled on Grapevine, love it here or CCR, either one. I'm sure
other compilations dig a lot deeper than this, as the man had 25 studio albums. I would have
guessed about 10. This one works for me, covering most of what I know. A shame Marvin was offed
by his dad, and the dude got five years probation, for freakin' murder!

I seem to be on a compilation run of late. This one I'm pretty sure is the only EW&F album I
own. Come's out with a love score, which any compilation should do. Sums up the groups early
hits rather well. One cover with the Beatles track that gets my worst even though I like it. I
probably considered it blasphemy at the time. Five love tracks out of the ten. Three tracks
here say they are from the soundtrack That's The Way Of The World. Not sure what that is, but
that title song gets my fav. The album scored a #6 chart rating both here and in the UK.

Marvin:like you said "grapevine" him or CCR,makes no difference to me neither,both superb!
EWF:,posted a best of set a while ago, beatle cover was worst for me also,never did like the beatles version that much neither,so EWF were never going to change my opinion on that

JOSS STONE "introducing joss stone" cd,2007
Joss' third album, but titled 'introducing' because she felt this was her first 'real' album...the previous two were dictated by record company executives,so she feels this is the 'real joss' i guess...
was only eighteen when she recorded this one and she has a real mature vocal quality way above her youthful age..sort of a cross between Aretha and Amy for the most part(sort of classic r+b), then hints of modern r+b intertwine amongst it, closest thing i can say here is Fugees and Alicia Keys...
some real good stuff on here, a couple of not so good tracks also, but overall, a solid collection.
our old esteemed member Tiggi would testify to this,probably moreso than i as he is/was a huge Stone fan

This album is rad ya'll must take a listen plus the album is available either through purchasing it or sharing it. Such a considerate approach AOD made regarding their fans. (Its pretty similar to Stangefolk if unfamiliar.)

This one surpised me. Was expecting a higher score. I guess the novelty wore off. One penalty
point for all the nonsense between tracks (not listed), plus two I don't care for takes it down
to a medium like. Three love tracks but I thought there was more. This is his second album and
I don't think I ever heard the first. Dr. Dre had taken the reins rfor this one. Never would
have thought an artist that was this loose with profanity and rapping about violence would have
got as huge as he did. This album debuted at #2 and won a Best Rap Album grammy. The single of
My Name Is peaked at #36 after going through some extensive editing. Several lawsuits came
after the release of this album. Most noteworthy was the dudes mother filing a $10 million suit
for slander. Two years later she was awarded $25000, of which she got $1600 after legal fees. I
guess that means she won.
