Vishwa Mohan Bhatt was born on this day in 1950 in Rajasthan, India. He is the inventor of the Mohan Veena â a type of slide guitar instrument. Matt Malley, ex Counting Crows bassist, plays one of these, as does Harry Manx â they were both tutored by V M Bhatt.

Personally, Iâve never been a big Rush fan (not for lack of trying), but I do quite like Grace Under Pressure and in particular this track which was inspired by the story of Leeâs parents, both of whom were holocaust survivors, and who somehow made it through their interment in the concentration camps. Kate Bush was born on this day in 1958. Coincidentally, she shares a birthday with Emily Brontë (140 years later, that is) - I wonder if that added to the inspiration for âWuthering Heightsâ which, IMHO, is about as close as a song could get to the heart of the matter of that book. She seems to have surrounded herself with well-respected and accomplished musicians throughout her illustrious career, Ian Bairnson of APP fame being a great example of one of them. Sheâs got âfirstsâ in a number of categories and been the recipient of many accolades for her contribution to the biz â (and I donât own a single one of her albums!! :ohwell
