2011 remake of the John Carpenter 1982 classic Sci-fi Horror flick

the CGI is vastly superior in the new version for obvious reasons
but the movie lacks the suspense of the original.

original movie 3.5/5

STAR WARS Episode IX : the rise of Skywalker

at the cinema (as I have done with the previous 8 instalments of the saga)
forget the reviews by so-called experts this is a very good movie
it answers a few questions left unanswered over the last four decades
it also completes the saga is a respectful way

Watched 'The Two Popes' last night on Netflix. Anthony Hopkins is superb in this as is the other main actor (forgot his name). Slow movie but lots of food for thought. Highly recommended even if the subject material is not to your taste. The message I take away from this movie is that we are all human and all fallible. A lot of home truths about the mess the world finds itself in. The millions in poverty (and growing rapidly) and the handful of the truly wealthy trying to stay ahead of the pack and control it all. The writing's on the wall. Just a matter of time people. No getting away from what's coming.

I heard of The Two Popes
never knew who was in it until now
I will watch it over Xmas if only to see Hopkins' acting performance

Anthony Hopkins must be in the mix for an Oscar with this performance. And the other guy is not far behind. Brilliant acting. So good, at times it's like watching an interview with the real characters.

Dylan documentary
documents his return to live performances  in 1975 after a decade hiatus
The Band are his live band here
lots of concert footage
lots of back stage banter
lots of Joan Baez and other friends talking about him
even some interviews with the man himself both official and candid
probably only something a fan would sit through

a comedy:


a nine year old girl is left at school at Christmas with the janitor as her parents had forgotten to pick her up.
three robbers seek refuge in the school whilst on the run from police
robber hold janitor hostage but are unaware that girl is still in school.
stars Danny Glover as the janitor and he is Mr Cool as usual!

ends up being a second rate Home Alone but set in a school.

kids will love it. I didnt

feel-good family movie:

rich girl heiress goes to small town incognito
she falls in love with the people there
rich fiancé turns up, acts like a pig
she breaks up with him...
sort of a Sweet Home Alabama storyline
