Mix it all up and then open the bottle of scotch and make sure you have at least half the bottle while the brew is boiling. You will feel better. I promise. Jokes aside, that mix of ingredients does actually work for me. Don't know why it does - it just does. Minus the scotch of course.

That’s a new one to me! Makes a change from ginger, lemon and honey. I’m guessing it leads to mild perspiration??! And the ability to fell vampires from twenty paces. Lol!!

Sounds perfectly doable - definitely gonna try it out … thanks.

two movies:

superb movie about racism, prejudice, ignorance and ultimate friendship in 1960s Deep South...
based on a true story:
deserved the Acadamy Award for "best movie" earlier this year

my rating 9/10

thriller-cum-horror..
almost edge of your seat material in places with a totally unexpected twist at the end, almost Stephen King-ish in place\

my rating  7/10

RE: Currently Watching? - Ruby - 03-08-2019

Felt like seeing a movie so went to watch Rocketman which I didn’t think I’d bother with on the big screen. It’s got quite a bit of the typical ‘musical’ framework – dancing in the streets – that sort of thing, but mostly in the first half, and then when it’s done later, it melds in with the whole story and is more modern, so that in fact, it only teeters on the verge of tedium (in that respect). Of course, Elton John is a brilliant subject in terms of his flamboyance, his costumes and his outrageous persona (or the one he shows people) and Taron Egerton, the actor who portrays him, does him great justice, not to mention actually singing the songs on the soundtrack – I predict an Oscar.

The film is not a documentary, but it does focus on little Reggie Dwight’s difficult, unloved childhood and his subsequent struggles with every substance known to humankind, apropos the movie, in an attempt to plaster over the cracks, a scenario that plays itself out in so very many lives. It looks at his meteoric rise to fame and his career up to the point where he gets sober which was 28 years ago, and it also celebrates his and Bernie Taupin’s unusual and incredibly fruitful songwriting partnership. What a lucky convergence that was – totally serendipitous. Had a different envelope of lyrics been handed to Elton John, who knows what might have been, or not! Gives me the shivers. That thread really carries the whole thing, and it’s true – they have an incredibly strong bond.

Anyway – I enjoyed it and I also found it quite sad. The music is great and there are fascinating glimpses behind the façade, however, if I was forced to compare, I’d say Bohemian Rhapsody was by far the more impactful of the two – the whole Bluesology bit was there in this one, but glossed over, and it would have been nice if Long John Baldry had at least had a mention, since it’s he and Elton Dean who loaned their names to EJ, and Baldry who pretty much rescued him from a deep dark depression and who helped him face up to coming out, not that it’s anyone’s business, but that’s part of the price of fame – no privacy – you’re public property. Not for the faint of heart!

There was a snippet of this one, which I haven’t thought about for some time … and I like this version …

I was going to watch that one at the cinema but I thought it wouldn't have the same impact as Bo-Rhap,
I look forward to seeing it when released on bluray…

also, there is a movie bring made about the relationship between Elvis and Colonel Tom Parker, Tom Hanks has been signed to play Parker,
should be an interesting movie if they get it right was the relationship between the pair was complicated to say the least,
and lets face it, Tom Hanks wouldnt have got involved if it if it wasn't a good script.

Two And A Half Men, re-runs, the Sheen era, not the Ashton Kutcher latter series...
so funny!

RE: Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-09-2019

ROCKET MAN:

biopic of Elton John's life told as he recounts his life as part of his 'getting clean' rehab stint...

its sad in parts, funny in others...
sort of wishy-washy in the dreamy musical parts...
its full of drugs.booze and sex (non explicit)…
deals with his longstanding professional relationship with Bernie Taupin and his personal relationships...
its not all in chronological order as it goes through his marriage/divorce then trips back to "too low for zero" album etc...

thoroughly entertaining though...

people who say "oh its not as good as the Freddie Mercury movie" etc, I have an answer for that, its not the same thing, its told from a different perspective and its not a rock and roll movie, its more in line with musicals...

7.5/10

IT Chapter 2

at the cinema...
second and final big screen instalment of the novel of the same name by Stephen King...
was previously made as a TV Mini-series back in the day...

in the Chapter 1 The Losers Club battled and defeated the child killer Pennywise The Clown,
they vowed that if IT ever returns to Derry that they would return and slay IT...
so 27 years later the disappearances recommence, they return and face mortal combat with IT one final time...

some genuinely jumpy moments, some scares, some violence and some laughs

ending differs slightly from the original novel but it works...
as a bonus, King makes a cameo appearance as a shopkeeper (ala Hitchcock)...
only problem I have with the movie is that it is almost 3 hours long, I think they could have edited at least
20 minutes out of it, but that's my opinion...

all up a good movie, not great, just good

original mini-series: 4/5

Chapter 1 :  3.5/5

Chapter 2:  3.5/5

IN THE TALL GRASS

Netflix movie from the novella by Stephen King and his son, fellow author, Dan Hill

typical Stephen King
starts off well with lots of suspense, mystery and intrique
but trails off at the end

simple concept, low budget, high on early thrills

6/10
