GRAYSON HUGH "talk it over" b/w "empty as the wind" 1988

never heard of this guy either prior or after this single came out...
"a" side has a very 1960s soul ballad feel to it...
"b" side, first thing i could think of as a comparrison was Mike & The Mechanics,i like those guys but dont like this song!
single reached a nice #3 here...

SCAFFOLD "hits-ep" 1982

four track retrospcetive hits 'ep' from Paul McCartney's younger brother's band...
these guys were big in the UK and here for about, oh five minutes if time stopped for four of those minutes!
i love their lighthearted simplistic approach here...its all catchy,sing-a-long stuff that is fun...
this 'ep' didnt chart here, but "lily the pink" did reach #1 back in the day here...

THE STYLE COUNCIL "long hot summer(radio edit)" b/w "le depart" 1983

UK release of this was a four track 'ep'(posted on here previously), here in Australia it was a standard single release...
"a" side is a radio edit version of a 7minute+ song, and the "b" side is a classical piano instrumental, i actually like this piece of music..
single reached #28 here, but spent 38 weeks on the chart...

Jet released three albums mate...

2003 "get born" , love their debut set which is probably the one youre talkin' about

2006 "shine on" , very average collection of songs, nothing as good as whats on the first album

2009 "shaka rock" , even worse than the second album, has a lame Oasis feel to it(probably due to the fact they toured the U.S with Oasis
prior to recording it...

Jet split up in 2012 i believe??

ROSS WILSON "bed of nails" b/w "visit to america" 1989

Ross has been making records here since the lat 1960s, pretty sure this was the first one credited to him as a solo artist...
not a bad single for someone thirty years into a career, and a bit of harmonica never goes astray IMO...
"b" side is pretty good, but again, not great...
single did manage to make it to #20 on the charts here

WHAM! "wham rap(u.s remix)" b/w "wham rap(club mix)" 1982

i wouldnt call this really rap, well, not in the sense of what they call rap nowadays anyway!
its a bit corny now, but still enjoyalbe for what it is...
both sides are the same song, just different mixes is all...
single hit the top10 here peaking in at #9

DENISE WILLIAMS "lets hear it for the boy" b/w "lets hear it for the boy(instrumental)" 1984

was this "a" side from the "footloose" movie???, i cant recall!
"anyway, not a bad "a" side, actually sounding better than i thought that it would after all these years...
"b" side is another stupid instrumental version of the "a" side!
single peaked at #3 here

THE CHI-LITES "i found sunshine" b/w "my heart just keeps on breakin' " 1973

probably my favourite Chi-Lites "a and "b" side combination....
love both these tracks, especially the "b" side which has a real country feel happening, which is unusual for a soul/r+b group
single failed to chart here...
