Have a few Charley on vinyl, but needed a cd compilation. This one will do just fine. Contains most of the hits that
I remember. Never was as big a fan as most, but he was a good country artist. The man racked up the awards in the
early seventies, 3 AMA's, 3 CMA's, 1 Grammy and inducted into the CM Hall Of Fame in 2000. You don't find many black
country music fans, let alone artists, so Charley broke down the barriers, shortly after the civil rights struggle.
Not that there were any others behind that barrier. No telling how long he will hold the record for best selling
black country artist. With 39 #1 country hits, can't see anyone else getting close to that. With only sixteen tracks
on this compilation, and not all of those #1's, it may not be a very good recap of the mans career, but I got a
feeling a deeper set would be watered down for me. Five love tracks on this one with two really bad ones, where it
is obvious they were trying to make him a pop star. You should have resisted Charley.

Starting my Dylan cd's, which if I stay on my regular posting schedule, you can expect one each week for quite
awhile. This means I'll be done with the D's in my cd's in about...uh.......never mind. This is Sir Bob's first
album, second for me. Started with Times-A-Changin' then went back. Only two self penned tunes on Bob's debut, and
they are the two best for me, go figure. Song To Woody takes the best. His tribute to his idol. Most of the other
tracks may as well have been originals to these virgin ears at the time. Traditional folk/gospel ballads with Bob's
spin on the arrangements. Not a bad tune here for me. The voice that would drive my mom up a wall had arrived at my
house. "You call that singing?". "No mom, I don't, it's the message. Music doesn't have to be just about love". Mom
would never come around, but I was on board from near the beginning. How is it possible that Dylan's House Of The
Rising Sun is not on youtube?

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Pretty sure this is the last JD album I have, and there was plenty more. Sure was no reason to quit based on this
one. The man was at his peak for me. Nothing bad on here, with seven love tracks. Tough call on the best. Plenty of
the nature loving boy on this one, with his love of mountains well expressed. Nothing wrong with loving nature, as
long as you don't become one of those earth worshippers in the process. Just enjoy it, don't obsess. John could pick
songs as well as write them, as only about half of these are originals. Of the others, I was only familiar with
Rodney Crowels Song For The Life which was beautiful by him also. The album did not chart that well, with a #39 pop
and #28 country. After 5 consecutive top 10 albums, the slide had begun.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Whalebones And Crosses

Best Track - The Ballad Of St. Anne's Reel

1) Dancing With The Mountains ***

5) The Ballad Of St. Anne's Reel *** - if you're not tapping your feet, you must be a double amputee

AUGIE MARCH "sunset studies" cd,1999.

got this one with my b'day voucher on recommendation from Tem....
had heard of these guys, even heard a few tracks on the radio etc etc, but never bothered to get an album until now...
this is this Melbourne quartet's debut set from 1999,released elsewhere in 2000.
they call these guys 'alternative', but i feel they have a lot more in common with folk/modern type folk(laura marling etc) and a splash of the slower, quieter moments of The Byrds.
some lovely music on this one, nice laid back vocals and lyrics that sometimes border on surreal/psychadelia type imagery...
for the most part this is a bloody good album, just dissapointed i never picked up one of their cds years ago...lots of talent here IMO,which is rare in this modern age of music...i urge ALL of you who read this to check out some links or buy this one...you wont be dissapointed in the slightest!
sorry about the complete lack of links for this one, but you'll get the idea from the ones provided, and thankfully they have a great live link to my favourite track on offer!!!!
allmusic rate this one a converted 2.4, and their 'pick' tracks happen to be three of the "***" ones i picked also!

Not sure the story behind this one. Released around 1970 on Sun label, but Jerry was already releasing stuff on
Mercury by then. Is this a Sun compilation or were they cleaning out the vault? Can't find any info on the album.
Good for the most part with four love tracks and two bombs. The worst is where he does that rock/boogie thing and
then the cover of Jambalaya, which doesn't even get a love rating by Hank from me. Jerry does do a good cover of
Cold Cold Heart, which even charted for Jerry back in '61. One Minute Past Eternity is my favorite on here, which
came in at #2. Those are the only singles I see charting, and the album went to #11. All those are from the country
charts of course. For me Jerry Lee's best was yet to come, when he became a consistent artist for Mercury.

I'm listening to the rough mix of a song off my father's upcoming album, "Til' Life Has Had Its Way,"you can check out the song "You are the Only One/In the Park Medley" here. The full thing will be available in a few months, it's going to be a diverse masterpiece in my opinion, check it out.
