#5 here in 1984
I've always liked his solo work the best of the Eagles [Joe Walsh always excepted]. Here's some more of his:

A couple of political statements, as only Mr. Henley and his cohorts can do it.:

You've highlighted a flexible, enduring song--a classic. Strap on this version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAA_LUCb0QE << No better demonstration of how closely traditional country (which Conway Twitty surely represents) and classic soul/R&B (Sam Moore of Sam&Dave representing) are so closely aligned--talking about real folks in real situations. And that's Tony Joe White to a T--at the risk of being obvious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCSsVvlj6YA
Doesn't get much realer than this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7GyLr7Cz2g

Joe Walsh's - You Can't Argue with a Sick Mind is superb. A live album of raw rock n roll. And some of the best guitar work I have ever heard.

Steve Goodman was born on this day in 1948. He died at age 36 from leukemia, having been diagnosed whilst still at college. He purposely set out to fill whatever time he had remaining to him writing music. He seems to have been successful in his endeavours, having collaborated with the likes of John Prine, Jimmy Buffet and Steve Martin, amongst others.

I knew that Arlo Guthrie hadn’t written “City of New Orleans”, although it was he that made it popular, but prior to now, hadn’t known anything about the person behind that song. His wife said of him – “Basically, Steve was exactly who he appeared to be: an ambitious, well-adjusted man from a loving, middle-class Jewish home in the Chicago suburbs, whose life and talent were directed by the physical pain and time constraints of a fatal disease which he kept at bay, at times, seemingly by willpower alone . . . Steve wanted to live as normal a life as possible, only he had to live it as fast as he could . . . He extracted meaning from the mundane.” [URL="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Goodman"]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Goodman
