What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 02-12-2013 Golden Earring - Moontan. Just love this album from start to finish. Rock mixed with some really spacey effects - my kind of thing. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-12-2013 only thing i know of Golden Earring is "radar love" What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 02-12-2013 As J said, it's worth checking out their Moontan album Crazy mate! What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-12-2013 ![]() BOB DYLAN "modern times" cd, 2006 album chart stats: #1 US, #1 AU, #3 UK. i guess you'd probalby call Dylan "classic rock" nowadays??? not sure, but this is probably around his 30th studio album or so... cant really sell this one to you guys, its Dylan, you either like or dislike him... rough gravelly vocals here, that familliar jazzy/bluesy sound he uses nowadys is all over this one... a couple of classic ballads on here in "when the deal goes down" and my mum's favourite track on this one "working man blues #2", which IMO is almost a "union sundown pt.II". elsewhere, we have the opening track "thunder on the mountain" in which Dylan is in a fine venom spitting mood... and in a recent 'rolling stone' magazine they put "nettie moore" from this album in their list of top100 Dylan songs of all time... al up though, a very good album from a man who was 44yrs into his career at this time! I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: the levee's gonna break best track: thunder on the mountain tracks: 1. thunder on the mountain *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RPkJeziNyI vevo video 2. spirit on the water ** 3. rollin' and tumblin' ** 4. when the deal goes down *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEoGqUqy-0w vevo video 5. someday baby ** 6. working man blues #2 *** 7. beyond the horizon ** 8. nettie moore ** 9. the levee's gonna break ** 10.aint talkin' ** 3s=3 2s=7 1s=0 rating: 2.3 allmusic.com rate this one a converted 2.7 What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 03-12-2013 One of my favourites of all time - never tire of this one - http://youtu.be/gxyVY7ObZls What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-12-2013 i didnt have time to listen to the whole link J-man(55minutes), but i did take in 5 or so minutes... the beginning was pretty good...loved the guitar work, very atmospheric IMO What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-12-2013 ![]() LITTLE RIVER BAND "little river band" cd, 1975. album chart stats: #17 AU, #80 US. singles stats: "curiosity(killed the cat)"..........#15 AU. "emma".................................#20 AU. "its a long way there"..............#38 AU, # 28 US. "i'll always call your name"......# 62 US. Aussie band's debut set from 1975... these guys were what you'd call a 'supergroup', Beeb Birtles, Graham Goble and vocalist Glenn Shorrock all had successful careers prior to the formation of this band.. Birtles/Goble would have to be in my top 10 song writers list of all time, and vocalist Shorrock would be up there with the best also... music would be what i'd call 'soft rock' or what is often termed 'adult orientated rock'... songs have a similar feel to what would be created if you could amalgamate America,Eagles and early 1970s Neil Young together... lots of lovely melodies, harmonies and nice little Eagle-esque guitar solos happening here... the big bonus here is the un-abridged complete eight and a half minute version of "its a long way there"....much better than the shortened radio version...sort of like CCR's full length 'heard it through the grapevine' which is far superior to the stupid three minute single version...! theres one song on this one i dont like, had i liked it, this would have scored a love rating!... i wasnt aware of this until ten minutes ago, but, the original line-up of this band released their sixteenth studio set this year... a very very impressive debut set from one of my favourite bands from predominantly the 1970s and early 1980s... I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: my lady and me best track: its a long way there tracks: 1. its a long way there *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzVHb7W97JY live 2. curiosity(killed the cat) *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49aBfO8MHRc live 3. menawhile ** 4. my lady and me * 5. i'll always call your name ** 6. emma *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ady39OrQDuE out of sync clip 7. the man in black ** 8. status of liberty *** 9. i know it ** 3s=4 2s=4 1s=1 my rating: 2.3 'allmusic' rating: 1.8 What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 04-12-2013 Ah this is the album you always take with you on your trips! I listened to this awhile ago in its' entirety on your recommendation and it is a brilliant album! Jerome Wrote:One of my favourites of all time - never tire of this one - http://youtu.be/gxyVY7ObZls What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 05-12-2013 Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks - Tangled Up in Blue must be my favourite - Lyrics are brilliant 'Her folks they said our lives together sure was going to be rough They never did like mama's home-made dress, papa's bankbook wasn't big enough' What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 05-12-2013 A new twist on an old theme - ELP meets JT with some great choral work - Love this track - http://youtu.be/U6-PAKOt7sM |
