RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-12-2018 hold off decorating your Xmas Trees until you read this article folks because there is a right and a wrong way of putting on the lights....apparently?!? https://www.msn.com/en-au/lifestyle/smart-living/have-you-been-hanging-christmas-lights-the-wrong-way-interior-design-expert-reveals-why-you-should-always-string-them-vertically-on-the-tree/ar-BBQA7nN?ocid=spartanntp RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Jerome - 10-12-2018 Oh God here we go again. The Irish radio stations have begun their normal non-stop playing of all the standard Xmas songs. I am sick to death of hearing them so the radio is going off until mid-January. It's the only way to stay sane. RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 13-12-2018 ok, time for some good news... National Geographic have released their 100 best photos of 2018... some absolute breathtaking shots in the collection... well worth a look https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/best-photos-of-2018/ar-BBQTboH?ocid=spartandhp RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 16-12-2018 Putin wants to ban rap music, he says it "leads to the degradation of nations" and " glamorises drug use" and is basically "drug propaganda" I don't think he is far from the truth in a lot of ways. make up your own mind, heres the article: https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/its-all-sex-drugs-and-protest-putins-crackdown-on-rap/ar-BBR1lye?ocid=spartanntp RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Music Head - 17-12-2018 ^^ smart man reading a Putin bio right now he pulls no punches RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Jerome - 18-12-2018 One you need to listen to - https://youtu.be/NQkF7fpw-wI RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 18-12-2018 ^^ that one gets a bit of airplay by request on the "golden oldies" channel every Xmas J-Man....I love it! RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Jerome - 20-12-2018 Busy reading Paul Simons autobiography - fascinating stuff - a very careful man - in every sense of the word. RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-12-2018 the top 10 highest grossing tours of 2018: https://www.msn.com/en-au/entertainment/music/ed-sheeran-breaks-musician-earnings-record/ar-BBRc5iV?ocid=spartanntp RE: I read the news today, oh boy! - Jerome - 23-12-2018 One of the interesting passages in Paul Simon's biography - when some members of the ANC youth league were protesting his use of African music on the Graceland album - God only knows why - after all he was putting them on the map - (stupid is as stupid does), they tried to smear his name in the media. Paul invited them back to his hotel room, pinned one of them against the wall and told him in no uncertain terms 'don't ever try to make me out to be a f------ liar ever again.' They left without challenging him. And you thought he was just a whimsical poet. The man has balls. He refused to back down and succumb to the political bullshit of the times and stood his ground even after his management team suggested he go back home and cancel the shows. I wish some of the politicians in SA could display the same nerve he did. They might actually achieve something. Paul Simon 10 ANC 0 And I have to say that his Graceland tour concert in Cape Town was one of the best I have ever seen. Another interesting fact - he often used to play guitar in the bathroom of his parents home because as all guitarists know, the acoustics in a bathroom are wonderful. A few weeks after Kennedy was assassinated, Paul, according to his mother, became depressed and used to spend hours in the bathroom in the dark, twiddling away. That's where 'Hello darkness my old friend' comes from. A fascinating book. |
