Debut set from Dave Grohl band after Cobain decided to depart (literally). Only thing I have of them
and I thought it would have scored a little higher. I guess that's why I never followed up. Anything
else would have to be a compilation. Only one track love score here and four that bomb. Didn't know
that Grohl did everything on this album except a guest guitar spot by Greg Dulli on X-Static. A band
was not formed until the album was released. So this is indeed a solo album, unlike other so called
solo albums that plenty of other people play on. Six singles were released and the album went to #23
here and top 5 in all the other countries that matter. Don't see where any of those singles hit the
main chart here but touched various other of Billboards charts.

yeh, the tracks on this Foo's album were basically Grohl playing around in his home studio...he did play them to Cobain prior to his death, and apparently Cobain liked what he heard and told Grohl they should be released, but he didnt release them then as he was obviously still part of Nirvana...

ELTON JOHN "the fox", 1981

from my parents vinyl collection...
judging from the chart placings this one would surely come close as his worst selling album i'd have thought...besides #2 here and #6 in New Zealand, this barely scraped into the top30 in most places, and the lead off single "nobody wins" made top30 in the US, but barely bothered the charts just about everywhere else...
and my opinion of it matches those chart figures...
i dislike over half the album, with most of the others barely being classed as like songs!....it sure says a lot for me when the instrumental "carla" gets a like, well, its not a bad piece of music IMO, and its bloody good alongside most of this crap...only one song i love here and thats the final track which also happens to be the title track...
i guess old elton was starting to feel the pinch having to do most of it on his own without Bernie Taupin(he does co-write a couple of these though)...sort of like the Lennon/McCartney bust up, t did take those two guys a little while to find their feet also after their public breakup!
