...in fact i dont recall any of these tracks at all, strange as the period 77-86 was my main era of music growing up

Debated with myself on 4 different genres on this one. Since they had dance club hits, why not? Easy to see why they are known by OMD by some. With four tracks on here I love, I thought the album would come out at that level, but that rubbish title track did it in with the electronic loops. Didn't know they had this many albums (11) and were still around, minus co-founder Andy McCluskey for a period, who has since rejoined. This is the groups sixth album. I also have the follow up but don't recall liking it as well as this one. We'll see when it comes up again in the rotation. My favorite here is the leadoff, So In Love, which was also the groups first minor hit single in the U.S. reaching #26. Dreamy synth pop at it's finest. Follow up single of Secret didn't fare quite as well but still does it for me. Also love The Native Daughters Of The Golden West and La Femme Accident. The string section does it for me in both of those.

Covers yes, but mostly good song choices. Linda in her prime, with another #1 album (her third) and her ninth
overall. The album also made #3 on the country charts, on the strength of what, I don't know, as nothing here
qualifys as country to me. Maybe Love Me Tender. She takes on both Elvis's. One works, one doesn't. You just can't
do the kings most memorable. Surprised that Alison works rather well for me as do the Warren Zevon and Smokey
Robinson tracks. Only thing out of place is the 1930's standard When I Grow Too Old To Dream. She should have saved
that for her Nelson Riddle retro albums to come later on. A decent enough song, but it sure doesn't fit on this album. Best for me is the Chuck Berry classic. The clip for that one makes it all the better. A tribute concert to the legend, featuring him and Keith Richards. Nothing great on this album, but that clip sure is. Three singles hit the Hot 100 charts, Back In The USA (#16), Ooh Baby Baby (#7)
and Just One Look (#44). Overall a good album from the third wheel in the Trio.

It was pop 50 years ago so get off my back. Tiggi says I should put crooner stuff in Jazz, but I can't do it with a straight face. My #2 all time favorite crooner. Gotta go 4 deep to get to Frank. Martin, Como, Martino, then Frank. Perry just had that smooth dreamy baritone voice. Passing in 2001 at the age of 89 and remained active into the 80's. Last hit was in 1970 with It's Impossible, a #10 hit which is also my favorite. Fifteen tracks here going all the way back to 1945 with Till The End Of Time from the film A Day To Remember, topping the charts and becoming the biggest hit of that year. Started in radio in the 30's, with his peak recording years in the mid 50's. Crossed over to television when that medium became the thing, with his own show, The Chesterfield Supper Club. Can you guess who sponsored that show? Perry's biggest and last #1 hit came in 1958 with Catch A Falling Star. Only thing I don't like on here is the polka flavored Hoop-Dee-Doo. Even Music Head has his boundaries and polka would be one of the lines. Seven tracks I love making this a love album. Perry racked up the awards during his career with four emmys and a grammy lifetime achievement award in 2002, a year too late for him to enjoy it. Some excellent live tv performances from that era for those who are into that nostalgia thing, like me.

Yes I've got it. And it came out better than I expected it to. Much as I hated disco at the time, today I can
listen to it, and not cringe. But then, there's that voice, that shreak. Doesn't that hurt? Needle stuck once, sounded like some bird you would hear in the jungle, over and over and over. Scary stuff. This album is all the hits from that era for the
Brothers Gibb. Loved 5 tracks of the 20. A little known one with a country flavor gets my best, Rest Your Love On
Me. No, it's not country disco. Completely different from most of the album. Then there were the 8 tracks that
maybe do bring up the cringe factor. Children Of The World leads that pack. This album went to #1 in the U.S. and
Australia, with the U.K. at #6. Covers the hits from 75-79. Still can't see how you can go from Odessa to this.
