I would defend myself but I have no idea against what. Rachmanoff got to the states just as the revolution must have devastated much of his past. Eventually he is in Beverly Hills and he was said to be the greatest pianist of his era. My intent was to say that when learning that piece, isn't that what I said Jazzbo? I get feelings of sadness mixed with bliss. Amazing moods all combined, therefore, it makes me think differently of him. I think I was very clear, and the midi format is so universal, small and efficient, for someone to dismiss it, I won't lower myself to say where that puts their suggestions.

Rach2Adagio36.pdf The last (the ".pdf") being a score I rearranged of the adagio section for trio. YouTube is great (ALL HAIL THE GREAT GOOGLE!) but to learn, the Petrucci project (IMSLP dot org I think) gives scores, and often samples - as in I donated my playing El Arreglito (the basis of Carmen's Habanera) so you may find audio as well as sheet music if you are trying to learn the works of the great composers.

Liszt's Consolations for piano you may appreciate. Il Sospiro by Liszt is another you may like. Debussy's Clair De Lune. Faure's Requiem. I had better not make a list 'cause it would be too long. But classical music is not just relaxing. It is much more.
Some symphonies by Richard Strauss including Also Sprach Zarathustra.
Vivaldi's Storm, also remaked for rock, metal and electric. Bach's first prelude. Schubert's Ave Maria.
I agree with Steve, Lisa Gerrard has done incredible stuff. Philips Glass and his minimalist compositions. Very atmospheric.
Some soundtracks are also top stuff.

Well said Teo. I have made a similair statement elsewhere so as to thin the fog around this misconception called 'classical' music, which approximately lasted 30 years all in all, and does not in the slightest encompass the phenomenon which saw Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert as its major representatives. In opera some would add Bellini in the list of classicals, a master of the sung melody. All of these masters burst the seams that pedants always rigidly advocate...
and you are right in asserting that it is always a romantic venture that sees the Birth of a composition, even though others label it with other tags.
All of them overstepped the rules and traditions, because art is and ought to be characterized by a certain freedom. And they knew it. Even when they were commissioned with some composition or other. And this is also the reason why they were scarcely understood in their own times. Originality and diversity. Characteristics always contested by the short-sighted.
