Lemmy is God! - SteveO - 29-09-2011 or in your immediate situation...No Sleep 'Til Opeth !!!...lol evilB Wrote:Now back to Lemmy, he's going to be touring next year with Megadeth, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil. that is a serious 4. I believe most people who go will come with a new respect for all of these bands! I hope they come near me as I would not miss this bill, given the chance. No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith! Lemmy is God! - SteveO - 29-09-2011 For some strange reason I've heard that Dire Straits do not translate well Live !!!???? gater Wrote:I remember seeing Preist and Maiden together a bunch in 1980-82 or so at venues all over New England, because every time I had the chance to go to a show, they would be in the area, with Maiden up first, then Rob and Priest. Neither band ever disappointed me... and I have stared at my watch at Dire Straits shows. But for my cash, Lemmy is the icon of icons. Have to agree - saw Mark Knopfler (not DS mind you) in Brighton some years ago and I was bored. I think he is a brilliant musician and his film scores are quite incredible but live it just does not work. Having said that the 'Alchemy' DVD is great. No gimmicks - just solid music. Lemmy is God! - Tiggi - 29-09-2011 I've seen them live twice. First time was in the run up to Live Aid, at the Wembley Arena in 1985, and they were phenomenal. Second time was at Earls Court, near the end of a two year tour in 1992. When the biggest cheer of the night went up for Money For Nothing, I had to remove myself for a while. The band were obviously pretty jaded, and didn't appear to be enjoying the gig at all. Like any band, they had on days, & off days... Lemmy is God! - gater - 29-09-2011 IDK... I just do not think Straits was really suited to play arenas, which is where I saw them every time. I would imagine in a smaller venue, or even a club setting, that intimacy would have made things much better from my point of view. Mark is a great player, and they were a damned good band. Lemmy is God! - Dolph Ziggler - 06-12-2011 first time I saw them was 1982 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. |
