RE: An A-Z of New Age artists - Ruby - 01-12-2024 Well here’s someone who marches to the beat of his very own drum, or should I say his multiple synthesizers. Tim Blake was involved with Gong, way back in the day, as well as Hawkwind. He’s also collaborated with Patrice Warrener who is a light show specialist. Space rock, in a word (or two!) – kind of - reminds me of someone else and I can't quite pin it down - there’s something very appealing about his work, I find. Maybe because I quite like people who are a little bit extraordinary, to be polite. LOL! Oh, and the other thing – we share a birthdate – a fellow airy fairy Aquarian weirdo. The music might be somewhat off the beaten track, but I think he knows what he’s doing. He believes in it, for one thing, which goes a long way! Interesting stuff. I’m somewhat put in mind of Pete Bardens’ solo work although this is more sophisticated, I’d say. He’s on my radar now. I liked his Tide of the Century album cover (the concept, at least), so I listened to that, as well as meandering through some of his other work. The two examples I am picking are “Tonight” from Magick … and the title track from Tide of the Century ... RE: An A-Z of New Age artists - Ruby - 08-05-2025 Time to pick up this poor neglected thread again or it will never be completed! Next up on the list is Moya Brennan - also known as Máire Brennan. She was the vocalist for the well known Celtic/Irish band Clannad which was comprised of her siblings and a couple of their uncles, primarily. Moya is the oldest of nine and Enya is her sister. She has released a slew of solo albums and collaborated with a host of other artists and seems to be a lady with a philanthropic bent and a feeling for nature conservation - who can argue with that? Rather an overwhelming catalogue to pick a listen from! I chose Perfect Time. There's only so much of this type of music I can listen to, in measured doses, but I did like the title track very much ... Alans Parsons isn't exactly 'New Age' but I'm including this for the helluvit anyway because she's the vocalist here ... RE: An A-Z of New Age artists - CRAZY-HORSE - 09-05-2025 ^^ your first linked track was nice, the second is apparently "unavailable in your (my) country" i also checked Wiki, had no idea Clannad had released so many albums after Enya departed. Ms Brennan has a lovely voice, thanks |
