I was in the Lake Como area of Italy some years back (Bellagio & Menaggio) and the weather was crap so I stayed indoors and watched one of Mr.Dodd's DVD's - he was brilliant. And he had an incredibly fast delivery with his jokes. I believe he holds (or held) the record for the most number of jokes told in a given period of time. And he did not have to resort to profanities etc. etc. to amuse audiences. One of a kind. RIP.

R.I.P. to pioneering free jazz pianist and poet, Cecil Taylor. He was 89. I confess to not having wittingly heard any of his music, but I do know this song by Jonathan Wilson which is named for Mr Taylor … Messrs Crosby and Nash in the background doing what they do best (when not at each other’s throats, that is …).

And R.I.P. to Didier Lockwood - French jazz and prog rock violinist who passed away on 18 Feb at the age of 62. Heart attack and a horrible shock for his family. He was popular in Europe and I expect the UK - probably not hugely well known other than that. Drew influence from Jean-Luc Ponty and the like.
Here he is with Mike Stern which is a fairly big deal ...

It was on this day 20 years ago that my newest favorite singer went forward, if only I had discovered my late beautiful precious Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys sooner, I love him SO much!!!

JAHSEH DWAYNE RICARDO ONFROY or better known as XXXTentacion died on June 18, 2018 at the age of 20 from a fatal gunshot wound.

her passing was not unexpected as shes suffered ill health for over a decade now but I'm still shocked.
and you guys know I'm a huge fan of Motown (well, R+B in general from the 60s and early 70s), so this is a huge loss.
this is only the sixth time ive shed a tear for a fallen musican....
was contemplating five or six tracks as a worthy tribute but I ended up with my original choice:
