Any other Stoner/Doom metal fans? - InFiction - 17-04-2010 I tend to lump anything that is Stoner/Sludge/Doom/(Insert one of the plethora of other subgenre names here) under Stoner. It's waaay to hard to differentiate between them all, and explaining the differences to someone hearing this type for the first time is daunting. I also feel like some of the more experimental metal bands like Isis and Neurosis should get a mention, too, despite not being "strictly" part of the subgenre. IMO, the Stoner genre has given us some of the most satisfying music over the last two decades. Huge, fat, fuzzy riffs, coupled with the psychedelic feel of the late 60's/early 70's and the "screw the standard song structure" feel of jazz. I have tons of respect for bands like Kyuss and Karma to Burn who can keep albums interesting with half the material being instrumentals. Some favs: Kyuss Karma To Burn Mammoth Volume Corrosion of Conformity Sloth High on Fire Orange Goblin Electric Wizard (maybe the heaviest band ever) Down Cathedral Hermano Any other Stoner/Doom metal fans? - goth metal raver - 19-04-2010 InFiction Wrote:I tend to lump anything that is Stoner/Sludge/Doom/(Insert one of the plethora of other subgenre names here) under Stoner.I prefer not to because I don't really like Stoner (except for Electric Wizard) and I like other forms of Doom.
