I am happy to hear you like the Wolves in the Throne Room track! There are many many bands and artists out there who create great ambient progressive music! Ruby Wrote:^Interesting SteveO! What is hard rock to your mother, probably won't be hard rock to you because, even within genre, the style changes decade to decade. What do you think HARD rock is? - Jane42 - 26-07-2015 I definitely don't think Van Halen is hard rock. AC/DC and KISS is what I consider hard rock with metal being Metallica. I do know, though, that definitions can change with generations. When I went to music camp, some of the other campers and faculty were talking and they discovered that a lot of the songs the faculty considered as hard rock or metal, many of the campers would actually consider classic rock and roll. And to the faculty they would have pry considered Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis classic rock and roll...to which the campers would reply, "WHO?" I always thought of it as hard rock being a little more melodic than heavy metal. I tend to look at it on a spectrum (of course, this is my own personal preference of how to do it): HEAVY LIGHT metal (Slayer)----hard rock (Metallica)----alternative rock (AWOLNATION)----rock (henley/hornsby)/pop rock (spears/bieber)----indie rock (life of dillon)----country----folk rock (indigo girls) I don't think anyone gets totally amped over Indigo Girls (folk) but at the same time I don't think the majority of people would turn on Slayer (metal) to take a (non-medicated) nap. Again, just how I do it. What do you think HARD rock is? - SteveO - 29-07-2015 So glad you liked it Ruby! Ruby Wrote:^Interesting SteveO! I can listen to this - and have done so, twice! |
