Music Head Wrote:Asleep At The Wheel on Letterman show

keeping country swing alive
from their Bob Wills tribute album

Super-shout-out to Bro MH for this post. Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel are stalwarts in this near-forgotten component of American music: Western swing.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_swing << There are other current purveyors of this but Mr. Benson has been the Paragon for 45 years: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Benson << With 20 albums and 9 Grammys, one ain't enough so--

Some tunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTh-4Ss07AE << Great 2-fer: a lope-along paired with a hard-drivin' song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAa2QZbGsHY << This is his show--producer, voice, etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrQcT6ycscs << Love this song and his take on it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_PsEJ5eKNo << With about 90 player changes through the years, he was a training school for professionalism.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOT6ZqWS25g << Great Swing song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9KVuLRRnUI << Does this ballad so well--that picking is sublime << From a terrif DVD; <$12 at the Usual Suspect << Presented for that Especial Chicago Woman

aint nobody screwed a song up as bad as Madonna did with that one, seriously, heres has to be the not only the "most terrible cover version" in history, but close to being "most terrible recorded song in pop history" also!

Mayer did alrigth with his cover, but like you say...pretty hard to stuff that song up...its simplicity at its finest IMO

CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

Dani and myself finally got round to watching htis remake of the old Gene Wilder flick "willy wonka and the chocolate factory"....
i think i prefer the original version which i would give a score of 4.5/5
this remake starring Johnny Depp as Wonka isnt too bad but it lacks the magic and spark of the Wilder version...
that said though Depp does stamp his mark as the kooky reclusive Wonka...
this version scores 3.5/5 from me

HIDE AND SEEK

not a bad thriller starring the brilliant De Niro and a young Dakota Fanning, but certainly not as good as the dvd synopsis says it is...
movie gets a modest 3/5 from me

here's "amazon's" product description of the movie:

Horror about a newly widowed father who discovers his daughter is caught up in a web of evil. David Callaway (Robert De Niro) has been left to raise his nine-year-old daughter, Emily (Dakota Fanning), on his own after the death of his wife. David is at first amused to discover that Emily has created an imaginary friend named 'Charlie', but it isn't long before 'Charlie' develops a sinister and violent side, and as David struggles with his daughter's growing emotional problems, he comes to the frightening realisation that 'Charlie' isn't just a figment of Emily's imagination.
