What Are You Listening To? - bob_32_116 - 20-01-2017 I'm listening to one of my old cassettes that I picked out at random, stuff that I recorded years ago from radio or from other people's albums. Much of it is either disposable, or else it's music that I have since acquired on CD (which I suppose also makes it disposable from my perspective). However it does contain this amazing piece: Tri Atma - Microcosmos What Are You Listening To? - bob_32_116 - 20-01-2017 ^^ Something else that's also on this cassette: Tangerine Dream - Street Hawk Theme What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 20-01-2017 bob_32_116 Wrote:I'm listening to one of my old cassettes that I picked out at random, stuff that I recorded years ago from radio or from other people's albums. never heard of this one before - I quite like it. I love them... love this album also, my #1 album of 2016 without a doubt, a more mature sound form this band, none of that stupid "sex on fire" rubbish on here, just good alternative sounds, making it my favourite album of theirs, period! I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: conversation piece best track: waste a moment tracks: 1...waste a moment *** 2...reverend *** 3...around the world *** 4...find me *** 5...over ** 6...muchacho *** 7...conversation piece ** 8...eyes on you *** 9...wild *** 10.walls ** 3s=7 2s=3 1s=0 rating: 2.7 What Are You Listening To? - Blinkbunny182 - 26-01-2017 Lay him on the green by Omar Martin! Soundcloud.com /omar-andres-martin /lay-him-on-the-green What Are You Listening To? - Ruby - 31-01-2017 Iâve been listening to the previously unheard by me Prostitute, by Alphaville (1994). Still trying to figure out exactly why this album is so titled, but I seriously doubt that Marian Gold would do anything other than by careful design, so Iâm sure there must be a rational and philosophical explanation even if I canât figure it out just yet! Speaking of which, since his birth name is actually Hartwig Schierbaum, I wonder how he came to choose Marian?? I know John Wayne was one too, except JW was Marion and he obviously revolted, going instead for good old John! But I digress ... Curiosity brings me to this experimental, eclectic and sophisticated album which delves a lot deeper and explores a much wider range of styles than the early and quite direct new wave/synth/dance pop of Forever Young and Afternoons in Utopia, both of which I have and both of which had some highly infectious melodies, delivered with great enthusiasm and aplomb IMHO. This German band never really made it big outside of Europe, although theyâve still managed to sell gazillions of albums and oddly, gained traction through a fair amount of airplay in South Africa (occasionally, we seem to have the good sense to latch on to artists who are discounted by the rest of the world â e.g. Rodriguez and Shawn Phillips). Itâs something quite different, thatâs for sure! One or two curious moments, but on the whole itâs a revelation â had no idea they had done something like this which runs the gamut of rock/pop/ballads/fusion and even includes a reggae track which was quite a surprise! There is some notably superb saxophone playing and Mr Goldâs voice is untarnished, as always. Now I want to go backwards to the album before this, Breathtaking Blue, and find out what having Klaus Schulze as an arranger/engineer/producer on that one did for them. Yep ⦠itâs all a bit dated, but MG has never cared about that and continues to play exactly what he wants to a devoted following ⦠âThe Impossible Dreamâ ⦠https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzKHsdI5uyw âAint it Strangeâ ⦠funky ⦠https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFXQM24Fltc âAll in the Golden Afternoonâ ⦠https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bosnc5bPgtQ âFaithâ (reggae style track â way out of character for this band) ⦠https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjnLCCGtLps âOh Pattiâ which segues into âIvory Towerâ ⦠ What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-02-2017 HOLLOWAYS "so this is Great Britain?" cd, 2006 career stats: studio albums.......3 singles.................8 this album............#54 UK singles: "two left feet"........#33 UK "generator"...........#14 UK "dancefloor"..........#41 UK debut set from this UK "indi-rock" band.... hearing bits of Arctic Monkeys, Supergrass, Pulp, Madness, Blur in these tracks... all three singles from this one reached #1 on the UK "indi" charts, and of their eight singles five reached #1 on that chart also.... so im a bit surprised they only lasted the three albums... a very good album IMO, loving five of the thirteen tracks, liking the rest, giving an overall love rating of 2.4 pretty hard for me to pick a favourite track but here goes: What Are You Listening To? - Ruby - 10-02-2017 Railroad Earth â Last of the Outlaws. As one may deduce from the title, a sort of dusty, frontier type offering from this difficult to peg outfit who are mostly a jam band, and otherwise referred to as ânewgrassâ/progressive bluegrass(sic)/Americana/folk, I dunno, pick a description! Anyway, theyâre good musicians and this is a pretty tight album IMHO. Really great narratives with a combination of Celtic and folky sounds that call the Wild West to mind with no trouble at all (fiddles probably help a lot!), especially on this one, âHangtown Ballâ which youâd think would be kinda macabre (as it takes the form of a sort of a litany of those whoâve come to a sticky end), but which strangely, isnât ⦠https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmh24Xh1Hms And the title track live which is cut just a teeny tad short, which is a shame, but itâs worth it anyway, I think ⦠ What Are You Listening To? - h1307 - 11-02-2017 Waltari - Yeah Yeah Die Die Maybe its rather bit hard rock |
