Hotshot lawyer Henry 'Hank' Palmer (Downey Jr) receives the devastating news that his mother has died. He returns to his home town in Indiana for her funeral, meaning he must also come face-to-face with his father Judge Joseph 'Joe' Palmer (Duvall), with whom he has a troubled relationship. The situation becomes even more difficult when Hank learns that his father is to be put on trial for murder. Hank searches for answers while defending the judge in court against prosecutor Dwight Dickham (Billy Bob Thornton). Through the course of the trial father and son reconnect but can Hank win the case and prevent Joe from going to prison? The cast also includes Vera Farmiga, Vincent D'Onofrio, David Krumholtz and Leighton Meester. Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 15-02-2015 ![]() "THE 100 FOOT JOURNEY" psuedo comedy starring the brilliant Helen Miren... 4/5 from me amazon.com synopsis: Hassan Kadam (Manish Dayal) is a culinary ingénue with the gastronomic equivalent of perfect pitch. When Hassan and his family, led by Papa (Om Puri), move to a quaint village in the South of France with the grand plan of opening an Indian restaurant in the picturesque countryside, they are undeterred by the fact that only 100 feet opposite stands a Michelin starred classical French eatery. However upon encountering the icy proprietress, Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren), the Kadam family realise they may have bitten off more than they can chew. Outraged by the new arrivals, Madame Mallory is determined to have their business shut down. As cultures clash and food flies, a heated battle escalates between the two establishments â until, that is, Hassanâs passion and talent for French cuisine begin to enchant Madame Mallory and even she canât deny this young chef could have what it takes to garner even more acclaim for her beloved restaurant. This, along with his new-found friendship with her beautiful sous chef Marguerite (Charlotte Le Bon), starts to weave a magic between the two cultures and, despite their different tastes, they discover an unlikely recipe for success that surprises them all. An uplifting and feel-good cultural feast full of Indian spices, French sophistication and British wit, THE HUNDRED FOOT JOURNEY is directed by Lasse Hallström and produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg and Juliet Blake. Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 15-02-2015 ![]() "the shining" a remake of the Jack Nicholson original.... at four and a half hours long, this one is more in line with the Stephen King novel than the original movie.... i prefer this one over the original,in fact, i didnt like the original, but no one can replace Jack Nicholson or emulate his role... so, this version starring Jack Nicholson would have been a treat! rating: 3/5 Currently Watching? - Music Head - 15-02-2015 Bettye LaVette on Letterman show too slow for me Currently Watching? - jazzboCR - 15-02-2015 Music Head Wrote:Bettye LaVette on Letterman show An intensely personal statement and thus of course it's correct. But please, folks, don't let this color your judgement of this outstanding interpreter of the popular canon. Here's the AMG review of her new disc, Worthy.: http://www.allmusic.com/album/worthy-mw0002778641 This is not an attack, merely a counter-balance. Actually, I appreciate MH for bringing this to our attention. I just ordered it. Is it a hijack if I present more of her? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dYWF2egGMM and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6raFWDBZLI I freely admit her style is churchly, even dirge-like, and not to everybody's taste--if you are a fan though you are rabid, as I am. I'd find merit her her singing the Yellow Pages. Currently Watching? - SteveO - 15-02-2015 Betty reminds me of a local gospel singer Linda Carvery so naturally I enjoy Ms. LaVette!
