THOMAS DOLBY "she blinded me with science" b/w "one of our submarines" 1982
i remember liking this back in the day, but now....i dont think so, this is pure rubbish, there is no rhyme nor reason as to how this "a' side could be called "a song"..
"b' side it no better, its all nothingness in the highest degree!
this guy is so "out there" that Pete Shelley actually is a good comparrison when descibing this artist!

DR AND THE MEDICS featuring ROY WOOD "waterloo" b/w "damaged brains" 1985
these guys made a very good cover of "spirit in the sky", they then followed that one up with another cover, this one, a cover of ABBA's "waterloo",
i dont like this at all..."b' side is even worse...
Roy Wood of Wizzard fame and original vocalist for ELO appears on the "a' side track!
sinlge failed to chart here and rightfully so!

I liked Thomas Dolby in a strange kind of way! The music was fresh and original...

this single from Hutch was a re-issue of two of his hit singles...
it was available here on japanese import only...
i used to like both these tracks but time hasnt held my interest here...
the reissue single failed to chart here, but originally "dont give up on us" reached #1 here and "silver lady" peaked at #5

"hit me with your rhythm stick,two fat bastards click-click-click"...i mean, c'mon, who doesnt like this really!
its simple, its catchy and its full of cockney rhyming slang from Essex mixed with funk and reggae sounds blended to create a unique style
then theres "van gogh did some eyeball pleasers,he must have been a pencil squeezer,he didnt do the mona lisa,that was an italian geezer",on the "b' side.its brilliant!
"a' side was his signature tune, "b' side full of little innuendo's and tongue in cheek lines that state the obvious...all these geniuses were 'clever bastards'
"b' side also happens to be my favourite Dury track ever.
single made it to #2 here, a chart high he never got close to again...

not the best Dury single by any means,very average in fact!
"sueperman" is not a typo, thats the way it is spelt,because Marvel saw the use of "superman" as a copyright breach, thus they had to change the spelling of it...
"b" side is classic Dury IMO, its a reading more than a song, about Dury's hopes and dreams for the future of humanity, very good indeed,with a touch of his
trademark humour thrown in for good measure...
single actually charted here, reached #90.

ULTRAVOX "vienna" b/w "passionate reply" 1981
atmospheric sparse music and mournful vocals to this piece of early 1980s electronic/synth classic...
these guys never reached these heights either before or after this one, one of the top 10 songs from that decade IMO...
"b' side is plain and simple synth pop at its worst!
single only made it to #11 here...stupid aussies!
