I have Boy. October, War, Joshua Tree, Under A Blood Red Sky, Rattle And Hum, How To Dismantle...." and probably another one or two somewhere...

you posted "thought I liked this more than I just did",
IMO, their music hasn't faired well over the ages,

Joshua Tree has several great moments but fails for me overall nowadays.

I think Rattle And Hum is the only one I can listen to from start to finish and enjoy now,
probably because it has a variety, traditional folk songs, cover of Helter Skelter and the tracks in
general don't sound like US...Angel Of Harlem sounds Gospel, Desire sounds rock, a beautiful
ballad "all I want is you", a cover of "all along the watchtower" and the classy blues duet with
BB King "when love comes to town"

put out during the aftershocks of The Joshua Tree's success
not as big a fan of this as CH is (above post)
don't care at all for Skelter or Watchtower

I do love the BB track

I never cared for Rattle and Hum at all, and still don't. That album sure gained them heaps of sales, but to me the whole project looked and sounded fake. I'm not a fan of bluesy rock anyway, but if I was, I'd probably just buy something by B.B. King.

i'd never heard of Sturgill until I listened to his latest release "a sailors guide to earth" back in April when it was released...
loved it so much I purchased it then there and then...
found two others in a discount bin at the same time..."high top mountain" and "metamodern sounds in country music" so
I purchased them also, haven't heard the latter two cds yet, but even if theyre only half as goog as "a sailors guide...."
im sure they'll be worth it!

I just tried to find whether i'd posted "rattle and hum" on MD but I cannot find it, nor can I find Boy, October, War, Under A Blood Rad Sky, Joshua Tree, All That You Cant Leave Behind & How To Dismantle...
I could have sworn they had been previously posted????
I know that over the years my want/need to hear U2 has waned, I even cringe when I hear them on the radio except for the songs off Rattle And Hum...
I am going to find R&H today, listen and re-post it tomorrow....

I also have a very good double cd compilation of BB's material..."the essential....", a very good album, worth getting IMO bob_32, and from memory
the BB compilation was only $9.99 at JB's when I bought it several years ago, I suppose the price would have gone up a little bit now he's dead though.

Thanks - but at the risk of repeating myself, I'm not a great fan of that style of music. I was just saying that if I WAS, I'd seek out the real deal rather than an attempt by a bunch of white Irish musicians who, in my opinion, sound much better when they simply play ROCK in the style to which they are accustomed.
