What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 03-03-2013 SteveO Wrote:I seem to be drawn to Tumbleweed Connection lately!,,,from 1970 somewhat obscure with no big selling singles...too difficult to choose a favorite from Sir Elton's vast catalogue! A lot of EJ's early albums are quite brilliant. 'Skyline Pigeon' is one of my favourites from his early days. 'Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatters' is another classic. And later on in his career 'Song for Guy' - an instrumental tribute to one of his roadies, to 'Empty Garden' a song about the death of John Lennon. Brilliant musician and a great interpreter of Bernie's lyrics. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-03-2013 back to Townshend....he should be grateful that 'another generation' of kids are 'into' his music IMO! What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 04-03-2013 Totally agree and why would he be annoyed because fans are associating him with smashing guitars!!!!....THE FAN RULES!!!!!!
back to Townshend....he should be grateful that 'another generation' of kids are 'into' his music IMO!
What Are You Listening To? - Greeny - 04-03-2013 I like to listen to several genres of music, but in Rock I enjoy and am listening to: Welcome to the Family by Avenge Sevenfold Avenged Sevenfold – Welcome To The Family Never Dead by Megadeth Megadeth – Never Dead Hearts of Stone by Eartha Eartha – Hearts Of Stone What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 05-03-2013 ![]() THE ZOMBIES "odessey and oracle" cd,1968 this is not the innocent 1960s pop of their mega-hit "shes not there"... this ispsychadelia,folk/pop with some of the best harmonies in pop ever recorded. saying that though, does not mean i love it,but it is a good album. was recorded in 1966,the record company wouldnt release it so the guys split up(but the public didnt know about it!), then the record company released 'time of the season' in 1968 as a single and they had a huge hit on their hands(none of the band rated the track back the, thinking it was a throwaway song). record label asked them to reform to tour for the single, then released the album...it didnt really sell that well at the time. according to the linear notes in this '40th anniversary edition' of the album Rod Argent(band pianist) says it only started selling well after Paul Weller described it as his favourite album of all time back in the late 1980s,also according ot the notes in the sleeve this album now sells around 100,000 units per year worldwide...i guess it could be called a 'forgotten classic' of the rock era...me, i like it but dont rate it as a classic album(like 'pet sounds' also) but i guess if you were there then, then you'd probably 'get it' more than i obviously do! this 40th anniversay edition of the album has two discs, one on original 'mono' with several bonus tracks, and the other disc is the newly remastered 'stereo' version also, as a footnote, the melletron they used on this album was apparently later used by The Beatles on their "sgt.peppers" album when the Zombies left it in the studio because it wouldnt fit in their van when they packed up and left LOL! I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: brief candles best track: a rose for emily tracks: 1. care of cell44 ** 2. a rose for emily *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LF55LNrHBSw audio 3. maybe after he's gone * 4. beechwood park ** 5. brief candles * 6. hung up on a dream ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XOd6Uajh-4 audio 7. changes ** 8. i want her,she wants me ** 9. this will be our year ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs4T3OkTy_c audio 10.butchers tale(western front 1914) ** 11.friend of mine ** 12.time of the season *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqnuI9K5ct4 audio 3s=2 2s=8 1s=2 rating: 2.0 What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 05-03-2013 Great video - great track http://youtu.be/CwXKOVH5uYI What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 05-03-2013 Lady Antebellum are a good group Jerome, have two of their albums, theyre not great but are consistant What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 05-03-2013 the only great song they've had imo but it only takes one What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 05-03-2013 yes great track J man! thanks for sharing. Jerome Wrote:Great video - great track http://youtu.be/CwXKOVH5uYI What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 05-03-2013 from my library (vinyl) I could not have told you I owned this album before pulling it out of the box. I must have been successful in blocking it out. I will do that again after I post this. Allmusic says he was Britians Elvis, now there's an insult for you. Sounds like the Bay City Rollers at their worst. The album is said to be the follow up to his comeback album. Didn't even chart here, but peaked at #8 in the UK and #26 in Australia. First single was my favorite, but I could only find 5 of the 12 to reach a like status. The others are just bad. Was this guy one of those teeny bopper fads? I guess I was just born too early.
