Looking Back At Some Classics - FrankieLee - 07-01-2013 Music Head Wrote:#413 - Bob Dylan - Visions Of Johanna - 1966 One of Dylan's best tunes on the album, the acoustic version sung at the Free Trade Hall in '66(The ''Judas'' concert) would be the best version I've heard. It's not about mice or an elf. Love the funk guitar and the bass. A double sided single with Everybody Is A Star on the flip. Did not appear on an album until a 1970 Greatest Hits. The inclusion of 3 new tracks on that, made it their best selling album. Larry Graham was one of the first to use the slap bass technique on the track which became a funk mainstay. Not my fav of theirs, but it was ok. Title track from their debut album from which Will You Love Me Tomorrow was the bigger hit. How about this line from wiki, "the song was shocking when it was released for its frank depiction of "a woman ...aware of her mind and body". They read so much into these things. Can't imagine how those lyrics could be shocking, even for the 60's. Lyrics You said you're gonna meet me, Tonight's the night. You said you're gonna kiss me, Tonight's the night, Well I don't know, Said I don't know right now I might love you so. You say you're gonna beg me, turn the lights down low You said you're gonna make me Feel all aglow. Well I don't know, Well I don't know right now I might love you so. I might love you so much. You may break my heart. I may want you so much And all my dream been torn apart. You say you're gonna love me, Tonight's the night. You say you're gonna hold me, Tonight's the night. I don't know. Said I don't know right now. I might love you so. Let's take a chance. Gonna be a great romance Movin' right now, Gonna be a great romance Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 10-01-2013 #408 - Metallica - Enter Sandman - 1991 running recap for me - 3's=47, 2's=36, 1's=10 this one - *** from the album: Metallica Written by James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett Produced by James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Bob Rock Chart action: #16 US, #5 UK the players: James Hetfield – lead vocals, backing vocals, rhythm guitar Lars Ulrich – drums Jason Newsted – bass Kirk Hammett – lead guitar I was one of those late discoverers of Metallica. Thought this album was brilliant. Went back and listened to the earlier stuff and thought it sucked. Two completely different bands. Most of the world thought the same. This fourth album took them to the top and remains their best selling. This was the lead single. About a child's nightmares. Nominated for a Grammy but losing out to Sting's The Soul Cages. It was the bands first video and won the MTV award for Best Hard Rock Video. Wonder if they had a Best Soft Rock Video award. Lyrics Say your prayers little one Don't forget, my son To include everyone Tuck you in, warm within Keep you free from sin Till the sandman he comes Sleep with one eye open Gripping your pillow tight Exit light Enter night Take my hand Off to never never land Something's wrong, shut the light Heavy thoughts tonight And they aren't of snow white Dreams of war, dreams of liars Dreams of dragon's fire And of things that will bite Sleep with one eye open Gripping your pillow tight Exit light Enter night Take my hand Off to never never land Now I lay me down to sleep Pray the lord my soul to keep If I die before I wake Pray the lord my soul to take Hush little baby, don't say a word And never mind that noise you heard It's just the beast under your bed, In your closet, in your head Exit light Enter night Grain of sand Exit light Enter night Take my hand We're off to never never land Looking Back At Some Classics - Myst - 10-01-2013 I really like this Metallica album, my favorite track on it is Nothing Else Matters. Enter Sandman is a good song too, it just got overplayed for a long time. I'd probably give it ** but only because I got sick of it there for a while. Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-01-2013 Nothing Else Matters is my favourite Metallica track also, really dont like much of their material but i do like Enter Sandman"**" |
