And the lady mentions Tanita Tikaram too. Another favourite of mine! I am about to go down on bended knee.........and if you are prepared to say Pink Floyd are great I will even forego the prenup.!!!!

i'll tell you what was freaky(besides being the name of one of MH's cats).....
and that is, about four years ago there was a period of a couple of months where MH and myself,at least once a week, happened to randomly pick either cds or vinyl out of our collections to play, and by coincidence the other oen of us did exactly the same album that day also....

all those different albums in our collections and we pick the same ones....thats freak, paranormal or simply coincidental?????

^I think some people are finely tuned to the same wavelength, or whatever you choose to call it!
Weird stuff happens – and we love it. Life would be terribly boring if everything could be explained away!

Steve Walsh was born on this day in 1951. Lead vocals and keys man for Kansas for a long, long time. Forty one years! He has officially retired. His is the voice on “Dust in the Wind”, “Carry on Wayward Sun” and “Point of Know Return” (which he co-wrote) to single out a few.

He has a couple of solo albums to his credit, one of which has, for its self-aggrandising, egotistical artwork, earned itself the dubious distinction of appearing on a number of ‘Worst Album Covers’ lists. Schemer Dreamer anyone?

Oh dear, the honeymoon isn't even over yet and already the arguments have started! Jokes aside, you do have a very similar taste to mine. I see you mentioned Steve Walsh as well - ANOTHER favourite of mine.

You've never heard of Tanita Tikaram!!!! Try the album Ancient Heart - a classic. I have about 4 or 5 or her albums. They aren't all great but there's always a gem to be found amongst the tracks. Little Sister Leaving Town is another favourite of mine. https://youtu.be/AOemA88vG4M Just love the strings on this!

Ian Matthews, or Iain Matthews as he now spells it, was born on this day in 1946, in Lincolnshire, England. Singer-songwriter and guitarist, he was originally with Fairport Convention but left them after a fairly brief stint to explore his own musical direction. His Matthews Southern Comfort band had a UK No 1 in 1970 with a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock”.

He’s collaborated with various artists over the years, fronted a band named Plainsong, and in the early 80’s aligned with David Surkamp (of Pavlov’s Dog) for a short-lived project they called Hi-Fi. (Warning: do NOT look at or listen to any of David Surkamp’s recent stuff; the vibrato falsetto was charming in its day, but now it’s just cringeworthy!). For interest – from Hi-Fi - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmVwecWD4xM

Iain Matthews has recorded a number of very respectable solo albums – from Valley Hi, here is his arrangement of Steve Young’s “Seven Bridges Road” with the five part harmony that the Eagles later replicated - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt2IFaCwTKk. His most recent release from 2014 is named The Art of Obscurity – struggling to find YouTube clips for it, but there’s this one, live. It's a good album IMO, quite retrospective which kinda makes sense! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MowgXjaOR18 .

Chris Spedding was born on this day in 1944 in Derbyshire, UK. Veteran UK session guitarist with a whole bunch of his own albums that for one or another reason have all failed to chart anywhere. One write-up says he ‘failed to find success’ which is ludicrous - his credits are myriad. He’s had a lot to do with Jeff Wayne, his guitar featuring heavily on the War of the Worlds and he is one of only two from the original line-up to join Jeff again for the WOTW tours 30+ years later. He’s recorded with Harry Nilsson, Elton John, Rodriguez, Mike Batt, Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music, Donovan, Roy Harper, Joan Armatrading, Tom Waits, The Moody Blues, Golden Earring, etc., etc., and he was even a Womble! http://www.allmusic.com/artist/chris-spedding-mn0000118261/credits

His most recent release, Joyland, has a couple of tracks that I have enjoyed listening to. There’s a distinctly Western (of the spaghetti variety) flavour to a few of them, which I quite like; Bryan Ferry sings a great lead on one that I can’t find a link to – “Gun Shaft City” (an unlikely casting that seems to work remarkably well). Another one worth mentioning is “I’m Your Sin” with Arthur Brown (presumably the Crazy World of guy) and Lane Murchison, and also “Heisenberg” with Johnny Marr – very nice, and yet another with Glen Matlock that was a pleasant surprise.

For want of YT links to Joyland - some spookiness from Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds -
