Currently Watching? - SteveO - 06-09-2014 Hey Jazz ! Always great to see your posts! I find your quote..."rules of English grammar don't apply in proper naming--they can come from anywhere in any language"...a little strange! ...lol...That means I can spell New York or my name anyway I want to ????...lol Currently Watching? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-09-2014 thats right SteveO.... as far as education goes out here... a student can spell incorrectly and still get their work marked with a "pass grade" because the new educational principal is: as long as they try and the intention is there WTF is happening in society when a half-arsed effort can get you passing grade! in my day content was 60% the score and correct grammar was the other 40%. Beiber" means "beaver" in German and maybe an Immigration Agent screwed it up. Bigger point, why stick foreign words with English grammar and spelling rules, especially names? Point counter-point. Currently Watching? - SteveO - 06-09-2014 No one fails anymore...it would hurt their self esteem !!!!...lol...what a wussy society !!!!...lol CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:thats right SteveO.... Currently Watching? - jazzboCR - 06-09-2014 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:thats right SteveO.... Now here's a great song on this very subject--quite the answer to those with foggy memories, the stone hypocrites and miscellaneous Troglodytes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-NqDtJuFtE << nifty comedy patter at the end. There is a Western-world-wide educational crisis in full bloom--blaming the victim sure is not the answer (I specifically include the better teachers in the victim category)--our huge and growing obsession with sports and those who facilitate/ benefit are victimizers--in 23 US states, a college football coach is the highest paid state employee, in a further 13 it's a college basketball coach--anybody wanna talk about skewed priorities and the underlying lessons taught to students AND teachers?) Currently Watching? - Jerome - 06-09-2014 The days of good English has went. These are changed times and that model just doesn't work any longer. Why that is, is subject to endless debate.
