SUPERTRAMP "even in the quietest moments" cd

one of my xmas purchases...
from what i know and have heard of these guys im assuming that this album is full of 'quiet moments'???
now i dont know much about the technical side of music but Supertramp always seemed to me like their songs are extremely complicated in nature, yet manage to make what they do sound 'simplistic'...am i right Jerome????
i did know two or three of these tracks prior to purchasing this one, so i did have the heads up on some of it and those already known tracks are the ones i love already(#1,4,5), the rest are still very good and will almost certainly grow on me over time...
a great, great album from Hodgeson and Co, i am so looking foreward to exploring their back catalogue even further this year just as i did with Jethro Tull last year...

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Spot on CH. That's the real beauty of their stuff. It's complex but accessible at the same time.

Over to the new stack for a very nice Elvis compilation. I have most of these on a box vinyl
set, but I needed a cd after the Elvis tour last year with my mate. This 2 cd set with 40
tracks fits the bill. People are always surprised that I don't have more Elvis in my collection
than I do. A few years earlier on the birth thing and I'm sure I would. I dove into music at
around the british invasion time, and that just swept me up, making Elvis something my mom
liked. Who wants to like what their mom likes when they're a teenager? Truth is I probably
loved him but wouldn't admit it. Two tracks on here recorded in '76 that I had not heard, Hurt
and Moody Blue. Both are passable but don't compare to earlier work. I lost interest in Elvis
when he became a Vegas act. I will list the tracks on here but no way I'm looking them all up.
Only including a clip for my favorite Elvis song. Not grading them either. Like jazz or big
band, they're all classics, because they exist.

What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-01-2013

its impossible to encompass his whole career with every hit, every great track on one or two discs but this one at least appears to feature a couple tracks from from more or less each important stage from 1954-1977...great stuff, with the exception of Bosa Nova Baby(never could stand that track myself)

i love that "hurt" song, one of only a few tracks IMO where he actually goes through his full octave range and can hold that high note at the end even though he is sick, bloated and drug f##ked to the max!

Eno - Apollo - Atmospheres & Soundtracks - probably my favourite ambient album of all time.

Good Lord Bob you've gone off the deep end. Maybe if Wiggle Wiggle hadn't have been the
leadoff. It just sticks with me for the whole album. And he wrote the damn thing. Hell I could
have written that. Certainly not worthy of any association with the master of lyrics. As with
most of this album for me. Nothing I love and four that are terrible. Can we blame the Don Was
production. I like to think so but it's still Dylan's baby. The album is dedicated to Dylans
then four year old daughter, which my explain some of the infantile lyrics. I didn't even know
the guy had a daughter. At least Dylan himself now admits that it was an inferior piece of work
blaming it on his Traveling Wilburys commitments. I see where shortly after this album was
release Dylan recorded the nursery rhyme This Old Man for a Disney charity album. Shows where
is mind was at the time I guess. The album peaked at #38 in the US and #13 in the UK.

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

LMAO...Dylan releases a piece of crap and youtube have links for most of the tracks, typical!

What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-01-2013

MH, your comments re" hell, i coulda written that" (wiggle wiggle)....reminded me of a Dylan quote as relayed by Keith Richards....apparently when The Stones met bob in the US in the 1960s...Mick and Keith said to His Bobness..."we wish we could write as good as you", Bob's reply was apparently "i could have written Satisfaction but you guys couldnt write Mr Tamborine Man..."

not sure what he meant by that reply as a lot of what Bob writes is very cryptic, but i would believe he would mean an average song of mine is way better than your best, just an opinion!
