What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-11-2012 Huh????....another Dylan album with only one link available?...i dont get WTF is with that and his music???? i think 1.9(6/10) is a fair call for this one, and as you correctly stated...not as good as "slow train coming"... What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 26-11-2012 from my library (vinyl) ![]() My first artist in the recently created Block music genre. A perfect example with ol' Delbert. Nice mix bridging the gap of blues and rock music. This guy could never hit the big leagues, but he's been doing it since the early 70's. This is his ninth studio album. There were no hits and the album reached a weak #181 on the chart here. A few covers which Delbert does an adequate job on. In The Midnight Hour doesn't come close to Wilson Picketts, but may equal the Rascals. Only one standout with Heartbreak Radio (horns are outstanding), and one clunker with Sandy Beaches. The rest is pretty good block music. Stevie Ray had nothing on Delbert. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Sandy Beaches Best Track - Heartbreak Radio 1) Be Good To Yourself ** 2) A Fool In Love ** 3) Heartbreak Radio *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAS6hJH5Dho 4) I've Got Dreams To Remember ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7NKW7Gh1us 5) In The Midnight Hour ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFk3eGyOEB8 6) I Wanna Thank You Baby ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWUUH4nG9w8 7) Sandy Beaches * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdvb5vc5quk 8) Lipstick Traces (On A Cigarette) ** 9) I Feel So Bad ** 10) Rooster Blues ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKnUbGMJ5xo 3's - 1 2's - 8 1's - 1 Grade - 2.0 allmusic - 2.4 What Are You Listening To? - Mrrusty1 - 27-11-2012 I wonder if it is as good as live at leeds 1970 could be lol Jerome Wrote:Bought a DVD today - 'The Who - Live in Texas '75' - will let you know what it's like. What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 27-11-2012 Mrrusty1 Wrote:I wonder if it is as good as live at leeds 1970 could be lol Actually it's pretty close - video footage is crap but the music is great. Raw rock n roll. What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 27-11-2012 Just finished listening to Lep Zep - Celebration Day at MAX volume. I think I have just converted my next door neighbours from Catholicism to Zeppelinism. A truly incredible reunion concert. One of a kind. Never to be repeated. But at least we have this to remind us of what real live rock n roll is all about. Mindblowing performance, especially from Jason Bonham. He's got every fill and lick covered. Talk about a chip of the old block.......absolutely amazing. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 29-11-2012 from my library (vinyl) One of Jerry Lee's many attempts to break back into that rock 'n' roll market. Can't find anything on this album and I spent 15 minutes finding a cover (e-bay). This is just too much of that rockin' boogie woogie sound for me. I only really care for Jerry's country material. Only one song here that even comes close to that, I Wish I Was Eighteen Again, which is the only track I love. Three singles released, that plus Who Will The Next Fool Be and Rockin' My Life Away, which charted the highst at #18 country. Not a thing country there, but it's ok. Even with this album geared straight to the rock arena, Jerry failed to crack the top 100 on the pop singles chart. The album peaked at #23 country and #185 overall. Give it up Jerry, you're a country singer. I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - I Like It Like That Best Track - I Wish I Was Eighteen Again 1) Don't Let Go * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ss7-Y3JEZ4 2) Rita May * 3) Every Day I Have To Cry ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeNeo6A0PBg 4) I Like It Like That * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g91pVEwjwd0 5) Number One Lovin' Man * 6) Rockin' My Life Away ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxV7oF2twsA 7) Who Will The Next Fool Be ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37pkILdXsyM 8) (You've Got) Personality * 9) I Wish I Was Eighteen Again *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kw0vx6Dh45k 10) Rocking Little Angel * 3's - 1 2's - 3 1's - 6 Grade - 1.5 What Are You Listening To? - Mrrusty1 - 30-11-2012 yeah raw rock and roll is just how I like it .. sounds good Jerome Wrote:Actually it's pretty close - video footage is crap but the music is great. Raw rock n roll. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-11-2012 back to Jerry Lee... guess we disagree on which style of his we both prefer...?!?!? What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 30-11-2012 from my library (vinyl) ![]() Cool cover! The back of it is some blonde headed girl (don't know who). They have switched the heads on the bodys. Pretty decent music on it too. Nothing great but only one throw away. That would be the cover of This Diamond Ring, a hit for Gary Lewis & The Playboys way back in 1965. Turns out Mr. Kooper is the writer of the damn song. Love learning this stuff. Makes me wonder if I would have liked Al's version better if I had heard it first, and of course it had gotten a few hundred radio plays in my ear. A couple of notable guest spots on the album, Wendy Waldman on Out Of Left Field, and Joe Walsh on the best track, Hollywood Vampire. Al Kooper's best work for me was with BS&T, plus his albums with Mike Bloomfield. This is Al's seventh solo album but he never had much success with them. Session work was his forte, with the highlight being that organ riff you hear on Dylan's Like A Rolling Stone. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - This Diamond Ring Best Track - Hollywood Vampire 1) This Diamond Wrong * 2) She Don't Ever Lose Her Groove ** 3) I Forgot To Be Your Lover ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNpFYUevMYE 4) Missing You ** 5) Out Of Left Field ** 6) (Please Not) One More Time ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=To8sGgSlt-4 7) In My Own Sweet Way ** 8) Turn My Head Towards Home ** 9) Hollywood Vampire ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1U_TC662NM 3's - 0 2's - 8 1's - 1 Grade - 1.9 allmusic - 1.5 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 02-12-2012 from my library (cd) Overall not as overt in it's christianity as the previous Saved, this twenty first release still gets the point across. Quite an improvement over that last one too, with four love tracks, but one clunker leaves it just shy of that love mark. That obvious worst track of Dead Man, Dead Man doesn't come close to anything else on the album. Best Track of Grain Of Sand, has to be up their with his best work, even though that list would be quite long. This would be the last of Bob's trilogy of christian albums. Then he would go back to being a heathen like the rest of us. Can't help but wonder if the continued sales decline influenced that decision. The Uk hadn't given up, with a #6 chart showing, but the album would be another to not even reach gold status here, and a worse chart showing than the last at #33.
