What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-01-2015 FOSTER THE PEOPLE "supermodel" cd, 2014 career stats: studio albums........2 singles.................10 this album: #3 US, #8 AU, #4 CAN, #26 UK singles: "coming of age"..........................#106 US, #64 AU, #69 CAN, #158 UK "psuedologia fantastica"...............no chart action "best friend"...............................#119 US, #86 CAN "are you what you want to be?"....no chart action second album by these Californians... "torches"(the debut album) and the superhit single "pumped up kicks" was always going to be a hard act to follow...and it was. this one has nothing remotely close to that single mentioned previously and the whole album is a bit of a let down for me... good job i bought this upon release based upon the other album because if i had heard anything from it first i wouldnt have bothered... their next album is going to have to be something reallu special for me to purchase it, sad really, because they had the world at their feet with the great little catchy tunes on "torches"... I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: ask yourself best track: coming of age tracks: 1. are you what you want to be? ** 2. ask yourself * 3. coming of age ** https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBqzrj18S2w vevo video 4. nevermind ** 5. psuedologia fantastica * ...the angelicwelcome of mr.jones(interlude) 6. best friend ** 7. a beginners guide to destroying the moon * 8. goats in trees ** 9.the truth * 10.fire escape ** 3s=0 2s=6 1s=4 rating: 1.6 What Are You Listening To? - jazzboCR - 23-01-2015 Can asocial/anti-social individuals Foster the People? I know that we can flagrantly flippantly fester folks...<< The rest of the lyrics are yours to provide. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 24-01-2015 Band Members for this release Chris O'Connor â bass, vocals Jeff Sparks â guitar Tim Lauterio â drums ![]() Recording History studio albums - 5 compiliation albums - 3 ep's - 1 singles - 3 from my library (cd) ![]() Producer: Chris O'Connor 1st studio album - #36 US singles - Standing Outside A Phone Booth With Money In My Hand - #1 US Modern Rock chart .............Motherfucker Bought this for the standout Phone Booth track and I probably did a wth? when I first heard it. Three other tracks I liked but 6 I didn't. Too alternative I guess. Even the Phone Booth track is out there, but the B.B. King sample sucked me in. The band began under the name I-Rails as a 3 piece with O'Connor as the frontman. After 4 albums the band split but O'Connor continued to work on the left behind tracks and released them as Primitive Radio Gods. It was disregarded by the public so he hung it up to pursue a career as an air traffic controller. Four years later he was house cleaning and came across the masters. He sent out copies to any label he could think of. It got him a deal with Fiction records when an executive heard the Phone Booth track. That song was first used in the Jim Carey movie The Cable Guy. That four year old album then got re-released with Phone Booth as a single and the album went gold. The band was re-united and four albums since then have not come close to that success. Looks like a 1 hit wonder at this point. Robin is a South African artist who has released some twenty albums in his career... like i said, lots of styles combined in the tracks here... fantastic vocals...slightly rough yet smooth, and powerful yet mellow at the same time... there is also a slight feel of Aussie band Bondi Cigars in his sound, yet, neither artist have probably heard of the other one... allup a fantastic album from any artist at the thirty year mark of his career... im looking foreward to delving deeper into his career at some point. shame theres little on youtube for this guy,and especially from this album, but i'll post links to all the songs i can... and ive just thought about what these songs sound like to me....the Stills-Young Band "long may you run" album I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: charlene best track: martha's aces 1. thats too bad *** 2. fingers in my pocket *** 3. porgy's lament *** https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68Mb33Ombrc video 4. no fish today *** 5. martha's aces *** 6. charlene ** 7. its tough ** 8.car trouble ** 9. since i caught on *** 10.in the bay again *** 3s=7 2s=3 1s=0 rating: 2.7 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 07-02-2015 Band Members for this release Chris Ballew â vocals, bass guitar Jason Finn â drums, vocals Dave Dederer â guitar, vocals ![]() Recording History studio albums - 5 live albums - 1 compiliation albums - 2 ep's - 3 singles - 16 from my library (cd) ![]() Producer: Chris Ballew, Dave Dederer 1st studio album - #6 US, #14 UK, #3 AUS, #6 CAN singles - Kitty - #19 AUS .............Lump - #15 UK, #11 AUS, #21 CAN .............Peaches - #29 US, #8 UK, #13 AUS, #15 CAN .............Dune Buggy - #15 UK, #16 AUS Had to have picked this up cheap. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. By the charts, a one hit wonder. This debut album went top 10 and multi-platinum here and in Canada. Nothing else has come close. Surprised they are still around, with an album just last year. The stupid lyrics are what keep me from liking most of this. Even the songs I like have stupid lyrics, so those have to be the music. If you want this album come and get it. allmusic slams this in the review, then gives it a 4.0. wth? I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Kitty Best Track - Lump Track Listing 1. Kitty * 2. Feather Pluckn ** 3. BTW...his appearance always seems to remind me of Edward Scissorhands(minus the scissors)... so if they ever make a movie about the life of Jack White no-one but Johnny Depp should be allowed to portray him! This one was lucky to make gold. And it was downhill from here as far as the groups chart success. Four albums since this have not charted. This album fails for me even more than the first one. Came away only liking 4 tracks. The consolation is that I like my favorite here more than my favorite on the debut (Lump). See you have to focus on the positive. Now if you want this cd come and get it.
