What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 18-03-2012 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:i just rechecked the NY beginners guide thing and on this album i gave 2x *** yet only one shows up by the individual tracks, i checked my hand written notes which i kept on my thoughts for the album and Bound For Glory does get ***, and not the * posted by the song, so thanks MH, my mistake has now been corrected...thus we agree that the two best ones on "old ways" are exactly the same....another "like minded" moment! whew!!! thanks for that think that's a fantastic song, and couldn't figure out the * rating What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 18-03-2012 ALCEST - Les Voyages de L'Ame (January 2012) ![]() World music from France...brilliant fusion of shoegaze and orchestral music from one man and a drummer. Neige (Snow) on vocals, bass, guitars and synthesizers and Winterhalter on drums. An enjoyable listen even if all the vocals are in French. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-03-2012 ![]() PAUL McCARTNEY "mccartney" vinyl 1970. played it on vinyl, but also have the regular cd and the super delue boxset released last year, mainly got he boxset for the 100pg booklet to read Maccas thought on this one both past and present. somehow, and not unexpectedly, the vinyl has far more warmth that either cd version i own. i put it here in the folk section because there are a lot of rootsy, folky tracks on here as opposed to only a couple of real macca ballads and beefed up rock tunes.. this is Macca's debut solo set, and surprisingly enough, the premier Beatle's album was the worst selling ot the four debut solo sets by any of the ex-beatles. it is certainly not a great Macca album, seems to be a collection of not very well thought out or finished tracks, but it does have a cosy feel to it. five instrumentals on here, and i actually like three of them, the other two i do not like. also contains two of his finest ballads in "everynight" and "maybe im amazed". the track "teddy boy" was macca's first of a number of sarcastic digs at his former partner in rhyme John Lennon. Macca plays all the instruments himself here and produces the album also, with cover photos by wife Linda. i am a big Macca/Wings fan, but overall, he, for the most part, seems to have a very blase attitude to making records.,their sound, his writing and it does show on this effort, that said though its not a bad album, just not what you'd call 'classic' MCartney!
