What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 17-08-2012 ![]() THE WHO "who's next" cd,vinyl 1971. this is,without a doubt, the Who at the top of their game IMO, sure Tommy and Quadrophenia are brilliant, but this one is ALL class.... contains their pennultimate track "wont get fooled again" and their greatest quietest moment in "behind blue eyes". cant criticise this one at all in any way....just pure rock and roll at its finest by probably the most underrated UK band ever, i mean underrated in the way that they were always living in the shadow of The Stones and The Beatles when they made as many great songs... this deluxe edition contains seven bonus tracks, that are either previously unreleased ones,b-sides previously unavailable on cd,and atlernative version of "behind blue eyes" and a live track, good thing about the bonus ones is that they do fit in with the album and not just simple add-ons to callit a "deluxe version"....great stuff! this album makes me want to don my fishtailed parka and Lambretta again...."we are the mods,we are the mods,we are, we are, we are the mods!" I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: my wife best track: wont get fooled again tracks: 1. baba o'riley *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZerKlpIk9A live 2. bargain *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QljxnIzXre4 live 3. love aint for taking ** 4. my wife ** 5. the song is over ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFaFlJpB3Qg audio 6. getting in tune *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3LvCRZNaRE audio 7. going mobile *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ5pi3UR5dY audio 8. behind blue eyes *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfuWXRZe9yA audio 9. wont get fooled again *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsleaGuZwCU live 3s=6 2s=3 1s=0 rating: 2.7 bonus tracks: 1. pure and easy ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Tqg9ANLWG8 audio 2. baby dont you do it ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUfA-13uoZQ audio 3. naked eye ** 4. water (live) ** 5. too much of anything *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q86hQOlLac audio 6. i dont even know myself *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBDmpfnkFfQ audio 7. behind blue eyes (alternative version) ** 3s=2 2s=5 1s=0 rating: 2.3 all inclusive rating: 2.5 What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 17-08-2012 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:have this deluxe version as well CH. Worth every penny. I have never quite figured out your rating system for albums but this one gets 10/10 from me. One of the last real rock albums to be made before all that 80's lot arrived with their hairdryers and cosmetic cases. What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 17-08-2012 Going to have a stab at Alan Parson's 'A Valid Path' today. Not quite up to his earlier albums but it does have it's moments. His son has a big part in the production of this. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 17-08-2012 Jerome Wrote:have this deluxe version as well CH. Worth every penny. One of the last real rock albums to be made before all that 80's lot arrived with their hairdryers and cosmetic cases. LOL.... ok, any album that score 1.0-1.6 is one i do not like, 1.7-2.3 i like, 2.4-3.0 is a love album.... this one gets 2.7 for the original,2.5 with the extra tracks... the idea is to score each track as "***" love, "**" like, "*" dont like....MH and i then add up the stars awarded, then divide that score by the number of tracks giving an overall score out of "3.0", i guess if you say 3.0 goes into 10 3.33 times then you times our scores by that 3.33 to give a score out of 10...thus: when you multiply this one's 2.7 by 3.33 you get 9/10....thats about as good as it gets, as i dont think any album is worthy of a completely perfect 10/10 really, theres always something i can pick with it if i really wanted to be awkward its just a bit of fun really mate, nothing too serious, just gets us listening to each track as a seperate entity on its own merits i guess??!! What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 18-08-2012 ![]() VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO "velvet underground & nico" cd,1967. guess this debut set from VU is one of those supposed 'landmark' albums in rock history like PF's "dark side",Pistols "bollocks", Beatles "sgt.peppers" etc etc...\ personally i dont see it, yeh its good, but not that great IMO.... pretty hard to describe VU or Lou Reed in general but they were original with their sound and lyrics back in the day describing the seedy side of life... probably my favourite Reed album after "new york" and love the vocals on the non Reed tracks here...im assuming they are by Nico, whoever that is? I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: im waiting for the man best track: heroin or there she goes again tracks: 1. sunday morning ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eF_CQGHqzts audio 2. im waiting for the man * 3. femme fatale ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjjDmX9Tkss live 4. venus in furs ** 5. run run run ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGqwy_DQnS4 audio 6. all tomorrow's parties ** 7. heroin *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffr0opfm6I4 audio 8. there she goes again *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3E5YIP-DvU audio 9. i'll be in your mirror *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=an9DoVBHHr8 audio 10.the black angel's death song ** 11.eurpoean son ** 3s=3 2s=7 1s=1 rating: 2.2 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 18-08-2012 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:LOL.... very well explained What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 18-08-2012 Music Head Wrote:very well explained I'm still trying to figure it out.
