Politics - jazzboCR - 22-01-2015 rebelgirl;81262We wouldn't have more-than-handleable debt if 1) the tax code was fairer, 2) earnings subject to SS taxes was lifted, 3) we ended most, especially financial, involvement in those Middle East wars. We could also put a lot of good folks to work in good jobs if we raised Federal gasoline taxes to pay for infrastructure repairs/replacement (roads, bridges, dams, etc.). A great time to do it without much fuss in this time of exceeding cheap petroleum. Hasn't been raised in 20+ years and not indexed for inflation. Or isn't serious discussion of serious issues wanted here? Just some speculative ya-ya about personalities? Politics - Lovely Linda - 22-01-2015 I'm voting for Bruce Willis  The Last Boy Scout  Politics - jazzboCR - 22-01-2015 rebelgirl Wrote:I'm voting for Bruce Willis  The Last Boy Scout  I'm with you--we could sure do a lot worse than this South Jersey lad. Politics - Lovely Linda - 28-01-2015 jazzboCR Wrote:I'm with you--we could sure do a lot worse than this South Jersey lad.Actually, my buddy Bruce was born in West Germany. Satan Claus is out there  BTW, who is rebelgirl;81262? Politics - jazzboCR - 28-01-2015 rebelgirl Wrote:Actually, my buddy Bruce was born in West Germany. If Mr. Willis was born in a US military facility, he is as legally an American citizen as is John McCain (born in a US Panama Canal Zone hospital). EDIT: My answer was incomplete; I should have added--"...and is considered to be born on American soil." That's the Constitutional standard that Mr. McCain met. I know the rules. Just as I know Mr. Willis is a Republican  Politics - jazzboCR - 03-02-2015 rebelgirl Wrote:I know they are both Americans. I know the rules. Just as I know Mr. Willis is a Republican  ...A blue-state Republican, See this about that--mainly the unelectability to the Presidency of any but a moderate Republican--reason? The Presidency is the only nationally-elected office.: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/01/upshot/the-surprising-power-of-blue-state-republicans.html Can I introduce you to the concept of gerrymandering and "winner-take-all" rules? Politics - SteveO - 07-02-2015 Because of the two party system with the exception of Independents ( is that an established party?) , the Great USA(I am so grateful for Americans and their sacrifice globally) seems to be evenly split somewhat at 50/50 between the Conservatives and Liberals. I would guess that it was a more wider split for Ronald Reagan???? So am I. No wonder we Cat Fight  I don't know how I missed that!! |
