Al Green - Livin' For You

A pair of 1973 albums from the golden voiced Soul singer.

First disc of two, featuring four albums in total.

This is sweet, sophisticated Soul from one of the greats IMV. My exposure to Al's stuff is still very limitted, but I'm suitably impressed with what I've heard so far.

Couldn't tell enough between the two albums to express a preference. Suffice to say they're both of a very high quality.

RoviMusic 5/5 stars, & 3+/5 stars respectively.

TOWER OF POWER - 40th Anniversary

[Image: !!d-sjRw!WM~$(KGrHqIOKpIEy+jC)oKTBM5vIVj4V!~~_35.JPG]

A brilliant live celebration of one of the major soul, funk, rhythm n' blues bands from the late 1960s. Tower of Power was THEE funk band in my era emerging on the music scene from Oakland,California.

On this digipak set, all the hits by the twelve piece band are here...

You're Still a Young Man, Down to the Nightclub, So Very Hard to Go, This Time It's Real, What is Hip ? Time Will Tell, Don't Change Horses (In the Midddle of the Stream) and You Ought to be Havin' Fun as well as many more tracks to get you to move your feet !

Al Green - Al Green is Love

Two more albums from 1974 & 1975 respectively, on the second disc.

Again, both are fine albums, where the combination of the Reverend's voice, and the highly appealing music from his band are a real winner.

Nothing bad to say about either of these.

RoviMusic 4/5 stars for both.

Tiggi Wrote:Are his devotional albums not so good, MH ??

They were ok
Just meant in the sense that he lost his mainstream exposure.

NWA "straight outta compton" cd,1988.

debut set from the masters of Gansta Rap in Dr.Dre,Ice Cube, Easy E, MC Ren, DJ Yella....
from memory this album was, back in the day, banned in some stores, banned on radio, billboard posters torn down etc etc...
this makes Eminem's early material look like pre-school nursery rhymes!...its hard core rap and pretty much the blue print for which all other modern 'explicit' rap is/was based on.
i havent heard another album that comes close to this one in this particular style...
this created so much of an uproar back in the day that NWA's record label actually recieved a warning letter from the FBI stating "watch your step", especially over lyrical content of "F### The Police" and the title track.
the group started to fracture after this one with members leaving over the next couple of albums.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

you seriously called NWA "hardcore"

They were just Run DMC with foul language, go "36 Chambers" or "The Infamous" if you want harcore
