I like them equally, for their own sakes. That sounds like a copout, but each version stands alone IMO: there is no other Dylan, period, and Bryan Ferry isn’t trying to emulate him at all (can you imagine?!).

To me, this version sounds quintessentially like Bryan Ferry, bolstered by that beautiful sophisticated orchestration. I like the album - I think it pays Bob Dylan elegant homage with the ‘old dinner shirt’ (as someone referred to him) being his suave self while still pouring out emotion and meaning.

The lyrics are brilliant, of course!

Charts are strange creatures. This New York band had a hit single from this debut album, which eventualy went platinum, 5 albums since then, and
none have even hit the chart. Last album in 2012 so the boys haven't given up. Love that hit single and dislike only 1 track making this a good
debut album. Curious as to the other albums now, but it would have to be in the discount bin.

Juno Award in 1999 for Album Of The Year

The girl hit the big time with her previous Jagged Little Pill. It and this follow up are all I have and the loss of this one wouldn't hurt me
any. Fails to come close to the previous. Not sure why, not much of a change in style. Hard to equal once you have that monster. Alanis is a
Canadian girl, thus all the Juno's. They still love her up there where she topped the chart with her most recent in 2012. Her stunning 33
million in sales of Jagged Little Pill has declined with each successive release but I'd say that one set her up for life. This one reached 9
million and remains her second best selling, gaining another Juno for Album Of The Year. Didn't do much for me though and I never followed up.
