Consider this situation which has happened in surprisingly high offices: Only one candidate runs for an office and then that one candidate gets swept up in legal circumstances and is banned from the ballot at the last minute--if there is one other candidate, a write-in with one vote, they are elected. There is no excuse for zero involvement in the electoral porocess. Zero. Every excuse to not get involved at even a minor level is defeatist BS--which always means the other side (the Forces of Darkness) wins by default. If you wait for the perfect candidate, the one who is honest, not bought/swayed, who speaks to you...good luck with that and your grandchildren will be waiting for that candidate too. "The perfect is the enemy of the good." Have you considered working to make a marginally acceptable politician into a good legislator with your group's pressure/ re-election funding? "Many are the pathways to righteousness, glory and ultimate victory."

I love to meet candidates face-to-face...as long as they're wearing anti-spit masks AND I have bail money in escrow. Not being a psychologist, 2nd/3rd party assessments usually reveal more detail and usually work better, long term.

You need to just leave it alone jazz. You are not going to convince me that you are right and I'm not going to convince you that I am right. So instead of going back and forth with the same stuff, let's just leave it alone and go on with chit chats on the next election which is what I meant to do. That is what is important.

Right on Rebel....
There is no right or wrong with politics and....
All politicians from all sides of the fence have both positives and negatives....

Personally I wish ALL sides regardless of their beliefs and persuasions would put their respective countries and civilians ahead of self serving interests!

I never had it in mind that I'd convince you (my ego isn't that big) but then this is not a dialogue, it's a message board. I was speaking to all the others who read (and it is to be hoped, respond to) these Threads.

I follow American politics as an outsider since I am Canadian. If I was an American citizen I would vote for the possibility of the first woman president! Very enlightening as her victory would follow the first black president!..that of course depends on whether or not she declares her candidacy!

If I were American, I would've voted for Mrs Clinton in 2008.

I can't see Hillary as Pres. At least I hope not!! She has too much "Baggage". Remember the "sniper attack" and everyone knew about Bill's affairs but her. Yea right Hillary :hand:

Oh Steve, I'm sick enough already. I didn't need to see her
